Random Thoughts or Whatever

The "domesticator" was a pretty simple LOGIC resulting from a few simple tests that we now call civilization. The logic is extracting surplus labor. Put many humans together farming (or any other productive activity). That efficiency will create more food, than would happen if each person farmed independently. That excess labor product can then be skimmed off as a tax or protection charge by the non-farmers, non-workers, or simply leeches. This logic is always true, in all cases where people gather.

The LOGIC was passed down, or inherited by continuous success. Kings, Presidents, Governors, CEOs are the ones who learn the LOGIC - they have the exceptional ambition. The rest of humanity are the farmers with much lower ambition, and willingness to pay a small tax to be left alone while they "make a living."

Of course, over time, the "tax" grows wildly out of control as the most ambitious people on the planet squeeze ever harder in every generation over the last 5,000 years.
Here we are.
i tend to think humans are a kind of distributed brain network + herd behavior. All the little brains make up a living organism. Individual can disappear, but organism can learn, remember, and adapt. Each culture is an organism developed in its part of the world in isolation. Now they are forced to meet and have friction due to difference backgrounds. Before the dust settles, either there are enough sense to work things out or there will be much unhappiness to spread around. :dunno:

I think that is definitely the case for CONSCIOUSNESS. The best analogy I've heard is that the brain is like a radio that can receive consciousness being broadcast from the One Universal Consciousness. They have tried and tried to locate the source of consciousness inside the brain and have failed.

They have not tried long enough :)

By "consciousness", do you mean awareness?

Q

"Ownership"= being conscious of something. Being sensitive to a situation/state.

DR's
intent in other words with his use of his "term".

Q
Hmmm... intent, don't see the application for the word ownership. To me awareness results from consciousness, at least available to it through discovery. Consciousness remains the mystery, awareness can be tested, measured.

Universal consciousness is very much supported by rigorous scientific experimentation. Science has demonstrated that humans can detect when another human is staring at them from behind. Science has demonstrated that dogs can detect and then respond with action the exact moment an absent owner begins their return trip home. Such events - para normal is the usual name- would only be possible if there is a medium of communication between sentient beings that is beyond the five common senses. I.e. A Sixth Sense.

sixth sense

noun

  1. A power of perception seemingly independent of the five senses; keen intuition.
  2. Extrasensory perception; the ability to sense things by means other than the known bodily senses.
  3. Grasping the inner nature of things intuitively.

As a long time dog companion of many, many dogs, I can attest to dogs seeming to have some pretty remarkable senses, but I'm unaware of any scientific studies that have demonstrated this as being due to a "sixth sense" or paranormal abilities. If such a true scientific study DOES exist, I'd be very interested in reading it.

Dogs DO have a sense of smell that is truly FAR beyond our comprehension. They can smell such minute changes in our bodies that they can sense cancers, changes in insulin levels, impending panic accounts before WE'RE aware of them, epileptic seizures, our levels of stress...all via scent. Their noses are how they perceive the world, by a VERY large majority above all their other senses combined. Here's a fascinating scientific article about the canidae olfactory system...

Canine Noses

Of course, on top of that, their hearing is MUCH more acute than ours. I have a quiet car, but my dogs routinely pick up the sound of my car returning home when I'm still two miles or more from the house; they'll start barking, causing my wife to call and confirm that I'm getting close to home. They've picked me up as far as five miles away. Heck, it's possible some of THAT could be scent-related.

Another quite plausible explanation for dogs seeming to know when an owner is ABOUT to begin a journey home could be that they smell a family member who IS home change their mood simply because they know the person is about to head home.

I can't stress how important it is for dog trainers and owners to recognize the importance of a dog's nose...if you are uneasy, frustrated, worried, or stressed in any way while working with your dog, they will know IMMEDIATELY, and end up feeling just as stressed or worse. A trainer I work with is fond of telling some of her clients that "bad training is worse than no training," meaning if you don't feel good, serene, and confident, and can't make a training session fun for you and the dog, wait until you do and you can.

This just dawned on me... I've always wondered why the bulk of discussions on most audio or music-related sites was mostly rock/pop/indie .... popular music... with jazz and, to an even lesser extent, classical music taking a seat FAR in the "back of the room." Then it dawned on me, just now, believe it or not... duh..... that's why it's called "POPULAR" music.

I guess I've been an unpopular musician my entire life.

Rupert Sheldrake pioneered this research and then documented experiments the public could carryout.

It's interesting stuff. He also did the research regarding people knowing when they are being stared at.
