Random Thoughts or Whatever

I read somewhere at a very early age that we never forget anything. I've been able to recall events that I didn't think was possible with enough focus. Some events may take significant time to recall, but they were still rolling around in the gray matter.
Sometimes I'll remember early events but wonder whether they were real or just a dream.

Random thought---

Me dear old Dad (RIP) was shocked when we moved to SoCal in 1961 to see so many houses mounted on sticks hanging over seaside cliffs all over SoCal. "Are these people NUTS? Who the hell would do that? They're all going to fall down someday." Ok, he was off by 65 years, but I guess it's ok to be right, even if it is long after being dead (1972).
I always wondered that, too. But with my income, this would never be an issue.

The air from a fart travels at around 7MPH (Google AI), but the sound of the fart travels at the speed of sound (767 mph at sea level).

I remember a guy in English class having this heated argument with the teacher, that fart sounds were really mini sonic booms.

Anyhow, have a nice Columbus Day!

So the sound gets there well before the smell...
When I was a teenager a couple friends and I were helping the artist Bill Rane paint some murals on the wall of Berl Ives house in Santa Fe. We crashed on his floor in sleeping bags and one night I had some atrocious gas from some questionable food (IIRC it was chili dogs from Der Wienerschitnzel maybe or something like it), anyway I was letting out some left cheek sneaks when Mr. Ives jumps up and yells at me: " Jesus Christ Boy, Let Them Rip, They Don't Smell Near half As Bad ! "

Good thing she wasn't smoking at the time!

Blue flames of butt pain! Followed by a trip to Urgent Care.

What's wrong with a good nights sleep. :) Doctors know best.
Nothing that I could figure out. But someone requested that the Mods remove it, the last time I posted it (maybe 2 years ago).

Just call me "Mr. Report" target! ;)

Maybe they or someone they knew had a lude problem. Myself, I think downers are just that, downers. Never got it, never understood it. Now a few white crosses when needed can be a real help, term papers, finals, etc.

I have a variation on that theme. There are some events that I remember clearly...BUT they are events that were talked about a lot by siblings and parents, and that makes me wonder if I am "remembering the event" or if maybe I am just remembering what others SAID ABOUT the event? i.e. remembering someone else's recollection and recitation? I try to think to myself, how would I know the difference?

We remember things by constructing a story of what happened. Lawyers learn that such "eyewitness" accounts are the least reliable evidence. The problem is that you have no way of knowing if something you "recall" clearly is true until some corroborating or disproving evidence appears. I have a clear memory of how the "see yourself on color TV" tape delay at the 1964 World's fair was arranged and how many tape machines were involved - clear and wrong, as I found out a few years ago when photos of the operation showed up. As for memories of other exhibits, I am totally unsure how much I remember from the time and how much I picked up from online photos, discussions, etc. I wish I had kept a diary, as I cannot even remember how many days I spent at the fair and how many at other NYC tourist attractions.

Random thought.
I was listening to a song from the new Rolling Stones album yesterday. I’m not sure which one it was, but I thought to myself this song sounds really good. I started to realize that the first time I heard them was in the sixties on a black and white tv. It was on the Ed Sullivan show. I just find that truly remarkable. They have endured all these years and still put out good songs. Talk about long term relationships. Wow. I enjoy a lot of their songs, but I admire their passion and longevity. Anyway, that was my random thought. Carry on.

Oh, and that album cover is very creative.

I don't know how they do it. In some sense - psychologically at least - they have to remain teenagers into their 80s to pull it off. I don't know, but I imagine that for them it is like putting on and off a uniform of sorts.
I remember reading that from the beginning Jagger ran the band like a business with income split evenly between all members, no exceptions. Like a company whose income was distributed evenly among all employees regardless of position or status. That would provide unity among the members for 'The Rolling Stones', the entity. You don't see them suing each other, not that I've ever heard.
