Unfortunately, this AI stuff is not a choice. You get it, whether you like it or not.
The newly amended phrase: "Death, taxes, and AI."
I'll make this prediction regarding AI:
At the BIG END of the idea - which is replacing all the jobs - this will totally and completely flop. Companies are not lining up for this other than some obvious areas like call centers, which are all in India/Pakistan already. SImple "global phone service" from 30 years ago ruined that employment opportunity in the USA.
The G________T will massively deploy AI for surveilling you and me. That's already in place, and will never, ever be undone, or unwound.
Most of the AI Labs will totally fail as companies and be gone before 2030 arrives. The debt financing will cave it, a huge tech stock bubble will blow them to dust.
But AI will be a permanent fixture with browsers and it will wildly INCREASE the utility of the home PC. It will answer billions of "How do I.......?" inquiries, and will help people accomplish many tasks that they dared not tackle in the past. It will also be a better TEACHER than whatever we have now in "schools." It is already really good at this function.
It will be used to invent innumerable new molecules for industrial chemistry and medicine. Most of them will be bad for humans, but a few might turn out to be useful.
Most AIs will be a hell of a lot smarter than your human doctor, and doctors will absolutely use AI to verify and check their diagnosis and recommended treatments. e.g. it will reduce medical errors. Don't forget, even the person that was "last in the class" is called "Doctor."
It might even help Boeing build working airplanes..........if they let it.
Everyone will have access to much better "finance and stock picking software."
It will make the old "Hey Siri....." seem ridiculously stupid and useless.
People who really use PCs a lot will probably subscribe to premium AI services for $10 or $20 a month right along with their Netflix and Spotify subscriptions.
