Sorry for the delay of the photos but a "last minute offer" of my local Rega dealer is changing my setup: P3-24/Elys 2 for a P5 with Dynavector 17D3 (Karat)...:thmbsp: I hope on Monday I´ll get the new TT...

Nothing special but I really like my P2 and Goldring P2 clone. Only thing I've done to them is re-lube the spindle bearings and replace one stock platter with acrylic. Was wondering if anyone has tried the white Rega belt and if it would make a difference on the P2?

I have not tried it but there are folks at Pink Fish and Hoffman that swear by it. I have an RP1 and am using it with an Elys 2 and just bought a P3 2mm wool mat for it. It arrives next week. If that makes a nice difference then I will consider the withe belt at some time in the future.

I upgraded my TT for a Planar 3/RB300 in 1986.

I tried a few mats that changed the sound over the years but have recently returned to the original felt mat.

Polished spindle with ceramic ball and fancy lube.

Original cart was a Goldring 1010. Went through a Grado Green (big mistake, unshielded=hum) and eventually went to a 1022 stylus in the original Goldring body.

A neighborhood cat jumped on the turntable while playing and wrecked the stylus. So I need to replace.

I had been thinking about changing but I am in a precarious financial situation right now so a big 9expensive) upgrade is out.

I was leaning toward the 1042 for the Goldring or the Dynavector 10x5. Recently I have read the Denon DL 110/301 may be good choices at considerable less cost than the Dynavector or 1042.

I have a Cambridge Audio 640 with MC and MM inputs.

Any suggestions/comments? (No, I like cats)

You could order another stylus from the UK for about $160, so that seems like a decent option. Depending on your preferences, I like the ideas of the 1042, 301II and 10X5. I personally like the Eroica H better than the 1042. It seems to have a better low end. You could also consider the Ortofon 2M cartridges or an Audio-Technica AT440MLa.

OK so I picked up the P3 wool mat and it's definitely much higher quality than the felt mat that comes with the RP1. The improvement is audible as well with better detail retrieval and tighter bass.

So last night I was fussin with the anti skate and decided to turn it down to zero and guess what? Yeah, much better. Anyone have a P1 or RP1 and have this experience?

Anyone know where I can source an arm rest for my RB300, i'm guessing it's also the same as the most of Rega arms. Any help will be much appreciated.

Where did you order the wool mat from? The felt mat is the only part of my TT I don't like.

Sorry, I didn't see this. I ordered it from Music Direct and it is a worthwhile upgrade. Your P3-24 should already have a wool mat.

The Rega felt mat on the Rega RP1 is a less dense, lighter and not as thick (not quite the 2mm of the 100% wool mat). It's also mostly synthetic and not wool. The Rega "wool mat" (which is standard on the P3-24) provides better damping and is heavier than the RP1 mat.

I have a Rega P3-24 with Benz-Micro MC Gold and TT PSU. I am using a Musical Suroundings Phonomena II pre-amp. I have only had it for a couple of weeks but I am very happy with it.

Has anyone used the cork Music Hall mat? Just wondering how it works. My felt mat generates alot of static electricity when I pull records on and off. I really don't want to spend $90+ on a Zerostat, and heard that it might couple better. Any feedback appreciated.

I used about 6 small pieces of scotch double sided tape to hold mine down. Works like a charm. Haven't thought about mats since. It really works.
