Service needed in Michigan - Crossed Paths Vintage??

Brent sent back my Pioneer about 2 weeks ago. As soon as I unpacked it, I pulled off the cover and saw that everything was original. Granted, he did clean the backplate and the receiver seemed to be in good working order again, but it was nowhere near the total re-cap that he advertised and certainly not worth the $450 that I paid and waited nearly 5 months to get it returned. I took photos of it with the cover removed, they're posted below. In viewing the photos, anyone could see that he hardly touched the inside of the receiver. I'm just hoping that nothing else fails on it so that I need to bring it to a local tech for service.

You got taken for a ride.... I'd be all over that guy if it were me...

We’ll three months later no contact from Crossed Paths. What an idiot I am. Another guy indicated he did hear back from him on his, waiting for parts blah blah blah, but at least he contacted that guy, I got crickets from him. I got no skills to fix my stuff I just like collecting and using them.

I got the 'waiting for parts' excuse as well. I mean, he's located like five miles from Mouser, for cryin' out loud. He could walk there during lunch break to get parts. I even asked him to tell me exactly what parts he needs and I would send them down to him overnight. My latest return date estimate is now early July. If I don't have a return shipping notice sent after the first week of July, I'm filing a complaint with the Texas AG. Right now my main concern is getting the receiver back . . . almost willing to write off the service fee and shipping charges as a loss and a learning experience on my part. Sheesh . . .

Yeah, me and countless others. God knows how long this guy has been scamming people.
Yes, it is eerily reminiscent of another guy named Noah... Who I believe is now behind bars for it. But a lot of people still never got their units back unfortunately.

Exactly how I feel
I’ll eat the $450 if I have to, I just want it back someday!

Can either of you guys post a thread in General Audio Discussion titled "Crossed Paths Audio Ripped Me Off" as a warning to people? It would be appreciated. I would do it but it seems like it would make more sense for one of you to do it.

Apparently, I was in violation regarding creation of the "Crossed Paths Vintage Ripped Me Off!" thread. It has been taken down.

Oh well, I guess having people scammed is not as important than some silly rule here. I'm done with this site.

It was a duplicate thread issue so I added info to the thread title to include your issue in the title. to leave over that I am not sure what to think???
Regards,
Jim

Noah is NOT behind bars and still on the loose. This is exactly his routine and I would not be surprised at all if this were him. He skipped bail a few years ago and even though I told the detectives where he was and when thanks to his stupid girlfriend posting on Facebook they never caught him.

They did catch him and dragged him back. He’s had some court dates for his domestic abuse stuff in Wisconsin.

Same boat as you guys. Made the purchase for the restoration of my Sansui 9090 and sent it on March 25th. So far I have only received two texts messages from him back after our initial phone call which sounded promising at the time and now it is coming up on 90 days. Both texts messages states he is ordering more parts and now won't respond at all. I looked up online and found those forum threads you guys mentioned early and realized what a mistake I made.

Is there another thread related to this guys business? I tried searching and couldn't find it. I'll keep bugging him daily until I get a response and in a few weeks I'll just report to eBay and File a complain with the Texas attorney general website. If enough people do it, he is bound to have something happen to his business or more.

Wow, there's some bad eggs out there alright.

I guess the moral of the story is, get trusted referrals and don't take a punt as to where you send your precious gear

I hope you are all made whole or at least reunited with your gear

I'm going to let my situation with CPV play out for a bit longer before I grab my torch n' pitchfork. I did communicate with the proprietor and he's now stating an early July completion date for the work so I'll be patient for the time being. But, please CPV . . . no more with the 'waiting for parts' stuff -- that excuse ain't gonna fly. Just be upfront and give me the straight poop -- you got in over your head, your technician quit, the dog ate your solder, whatever . . . just be honest and tell me what's taking so long.

Have you read this and other threads (not necessarily on this forum) about this guy? He's running a scam and has been for years.

Actually, I did do a search at that time but no major red flags showed up. Only thing I saw here was something about a turntable restoration he did and the owner seemed happy. Even checked the BBB with no red flags, ebay feedback was positive, FB site was up to date, etc. Not sure what I missed at the time, though apparently I missed something.

When you say "He's running a scam and has been for years" . . . can you elaborate? Do you have knowledge that he's keeping customers equipment or perpetrating some other scam? Are there lawsuits? I'm interested in actual cases here, not necessarily hearsay . . . something tangible that I can present to appropriate authorities should it come down to that.
