I can relate. My "starter" bike was a KZ 900 that I had custom-painted by a local legend artist. In 1982 I traded the KZ900 for a KZ 1000 which was scary fast in its day.

You got that right, A lot of country boys outran Smokey on those bikes. Many of those towns only had a resident trooper with backup miles away.

I was surprised to learn the EVO Sporty primary drive is a chain.

I'm used to seeing those big twin primary belts exposed I guess.

(Don't know how comfortable I'd be with my pants leg that close to one of those.)

Afaik, they were all oem chain primary. Belt was an aftermarket mod.

A dedicated road bike is a first for me as they are limited for my interests. I was looking for a KLR to fetch small supplies, but this one was too cheap to pass up. I like how it looks with all of the passenger pieces removed and the included passing lights are a plus.

It was neglected and needed an entire fuel system cleaning. The carbs went into the ultrasonic cleaner and rebuilt with Mukini kits. I know that it runs, so now its waiting to throw them on and do the synchronizing. I was a bit disappointed to find that the fuel and ignition systems are more complex than I had anticipated.
This is the only picture I have from the first day. Had a few beers over a quickie detail job:beerchug:

Sold off the last of my vintage bike stuff a couple of weeks ago.
Two 70s flat twin airhead beemers and a couple of pickup loads of extra parts/exotic goodies.
Pictured is a very dusty customized R100RS....chopped fenders, upswept pipes, lowered front end, one-off single seat.
Got a nice pile of cash for it all.

Lovin this thread. First one as a 73 CB350 4, money made from the tobacco fields. Then a new 83 650 Nighthawk and last one was a later 80s 1000 Virago. I doubt i will get another with so many crazies on the road, but I do miss riding

Coming back from the nursery today (purchased plants, tadpoles and Shebunkin goldfish) and saw a motorcycle gang pull up in the lane next to me.
Now I'm old school - I bought a Honda CL350 twin new in 1972, replaced it with an older Triumph T100C (500 Trophy twin), got a 73 Triumph 750 twin a bit later, a Norton Featherbed, all back in the mid-70s. Much later, I rebuilt a barn fresh Triumph 500 twin as a mid-life crisis thing - then got out of bikes again.
So, what the hell was this bunch all about? I did see plates on at least a couple of them folded up under the seats.
Mini-dragsters, mini-choppers, Diablo - some such thing :D ...

Those look to be Honda Groms. Supposedly very fun little 125cc 4-strokes. They have a huge following with customizers. They are street legal in stock form. I doubt they really need extended swingarms to keep wheelies at bay. Obviously a styling exercise. At least they look like sport bikes. Check out some custom Honda Ruckus builds for some more styling exercises.

Interesting concept, great price! But 125cc? Think I'd want 250cc
minimum, and certainly not the 49cc of the Ruckus!
I'd have sworn the black one on the left had dual exhausts under the seat.

Yes, it looks like it does, but the engine is an air-cooled single. There are a lot of dual exhausts available for the Grom. The Moto 3 Hondas are 250cc singles but have dual mufflers. If the race bikes have dual mufflers there must be some performance advantage.
