Well this counts as a bike here:

250cc (249cc in reality) - large enough to go on motorways, small enough to escape onerous road taxes and inspections.

I bet my days of riding are behind me but I have plenty of fond memories.View attachment 2476155

Don’t be so sure. I spent about 4 years commuting from South Wales to London (about 160 miles) in all seasons and weathers on a CBR1000FM (it saved hours on the motorway each way, and parking it was easy) and towards the end the shine had come off riding a bike. I then went self employed for a while so it was only rarely ridden. Then I had a heart attack and thought tearing around like a loon probably wouldn’t be a good thing anymore so I sold it and bought a nice Audi that lasted a few years before it started eating DPF’s and no one could find the problem, so it was time for another car. I didn’t need a big car anymore so toured the dealers looking for something small. I hated the stop/start thing, the nagging to change gears and most of the engines sounded like they were faulty. Talking to a friend I made the chance remark that I might as well buy a new bike. A light bulb moment. A few weeks later I picked up a new CB300R. OK, it isn’t as exciting as a large bike but it will do for getting me around and gives me a smile every time I ride it.

If this a stepping stone to a "Goldilocks" (not too much or too little anything, just right) bike, then, bliss!
