I bought my Kenwood KD-500 new in 78 and I have some older pieces that my dad bought in the 60s~70s.

I've noticed with these polls that they need to have a few more choices. Some of us here are older, and would like to see the breakout defined a bit better beyond just lumping everything above 20 years.

My stuff? VM record changer I've had since 1968. Infinity Qb's since 1974. Epicure 11's since 1975. And my trio of Pioneer SA-9900, Kenwood KT-8300, and TEAC A2300SD since 1978.

I'm 38 and I've had my MAC 1700 since the Spring of 1993, so 16 years. I'm all about keeping good old stuff around for a long time. I still have slot cars I got when I was 6 and 7 years old...and they've been in use all of these years. They don't build stuff like they use to.

Technics SL-1401 TT I bought new in1978, I think. It is the only piece I still have from my first decent stereo. Still use it in my main system.

These data (thus far) suggest two things:

1. AK members like relatively old stuff.
2. AK members are relatively old stuff.

Me included. :smoke:

My Mac C-26, Mac MC 250, and C/V R-26 speakers all bought at the same time and place in the early/mid 70s.

I'm very sorry about that... I can't change it now :( .
The way people keep swapping components around here, I felt that 20 years for one piece was really pushing it, never mind more.

Technics SL-D1 turntable that I bought new in August 1979. Used it this evening with the new Shure M97xe cartridge I just picked up from Amazon.

Not a high end turntable by any means, but I have an attachment to it. I worked the entire summer of 79 in the far north of Ontario to buy the TT and SA-200 receiver that came with it.

Sansui G 22000
Bought new about 77 or so. This unit will outlast me and my son. And it still looks new whereas I sure don't. LOL.

The Thorens TD-124 and Realistic STA-85 have been in the stable for about 30 years I suppose. I still use the STA-85 as the amp for my helper woofers (not the sub). Though the Thorens was my only turntable through college I am not using it currently as it needs some TLC but I plan to put it to use in a mono system... soon honest. The Thorens has been in the family since the late 50s I believe.

My Dad built the Speakers in the shop in 1960, I replaced all the drivers about 10???? years or so ago except the tweeter horns which still sounded great. I just gave my brother a set of Optimus T-100 towers I bought in 1980 for His shop.

Home built Philips double 12" towers built in 74" Akai AM2800 AT2600 same year actually earlier. Koss portapro's early 80's
