The longest I've owned a piece of audio component gear was 3 years, my Teac AG-370 receiver I bought new in 2006. All my vintage gear I've owned for less than 2 years.

I got my Rotel new, and the Bostons 2nd hand, sometime around 97 or 98. The JVC turntable that I gave to a friend last year I had since I think 88 or 89

I bought my DBX224 in the late 1970's and still have it, and my KLH 6 speakers I bought about the same time. My brother bought his Dynaco A-25's in the early 1970's and his TEAC A-6010GSL around the same time, and I still have them, along with the power amp he designed and built in the early 1970's.

20 years? HA! That's nothin'... I've had my Norman Sevens for 31... not with the original drivers, and the cabs are in rough shape, but they sound better than they did new.

Still have the Yamaha 80-watt integrated I bought in college (~'77), and it is used daily to power little Tannoys in the TV room. Sold the Sonab speakers from the same era just a couple years ago -- still had the original packaging!

Teac A-4010S since new in '68 0r '69, Sansui Au-111 since new in '68, Teac A-4010GSL, SX-1980, CT-F1250, SG-9500, RG-2, SR-303, Hpm-150's, Hpm-900's, Hpm-1100's, Pioneer A-5, National RS-255S cassette deck, SR-202, SL-5100 all since new. Have also owned Kenwook TK-140X, Cs-77's and Cs-88's but those moved on to make room for the silver pioneers. I tend to put together and tweak what sounds good to me and then hang onto it for a bit.

5-10.

i inherited the hand me down all in one TT,cassette,am/fm Sharp SG-3 unit from my parents in 2000ish, it was a POS. i upgraded that Nov. 08. and upgraded the TT/Preamp/speakers AGAIN and for the last time March 09 since the nov 08 upgrade was cheap, but decent to spark my interest in vinyl again. next on the chopping block is my new, but low end Onkyo. do that and im DONE! but it will be a while.

I bought my Sansui G-4700 Receiver at Highland Appliance's 1979 Labor Day sale (along with a Sansui turntable whose model number I forget) and some Marantz HD-440 speakers. And an AT cartridge.

I replaced the turntable in late winter or early spring 1981 when I bought my Philips AF-829 turntable at Tech HiFi's going out of business sale in East Lansing. I financed that purchase by selling my Sansui table and a graphic equalizer.

The foam surrounds on the Marantzes dissolved 15 years ago, when I replaced them with my NHT 1.3As (this was before the internet really got going and I didn't realize you could replace the foam surrounds). Still, those NHTs sound a lot more sweet than my Marantzes could ever have hoped to have sounded (12 or 13 years of technology improvements does make a difference).

The Sansui receiver was up at my parents' house for a while, getting light use, but made its way "home" about 6 weeks ago and is now in my oldest son's room with a Sony 5-disc CD player and some small Infinity speakers. It's still as gorgeous as it ever was. Sounds as sweet as those Infinitys will let it sound.

The Philips turntable got a lot of use through the late 80s and then went into storage. I just got a new component rack that keeps the table beyond the reach of my 2-year old daughter, and with that, and a new Shure M97-xE cart, it's back playing through my Pioneer Elite VSX82-TXS receiver, and sounding as sweet as ever through my B&W DM603 s3s. Very tasty.
