I generally root against Duke, but there are exceptions. I wanted UVA to be playing Duke as a #1.
I'm pretty much with you guys on this. Not a Duke fan.
However, last night I didn't notice anything during the game to make me dislike them. I know, it's Duke, and we're supposed to. Where did all their villians go? Did the world run out of Bobby Hurleys and Christian Laettners? (yeah, I know, long ago)
Cam Boozer can play - big respect for that guy.
I hadn't really watched any basketball this year except for a few Longhorn games. Not sure of their prospects but I like Sean Miller as a coach and the team seems to be improving through the season. They play a more enjoyable brand of basketball than you have seen with Rick Barnes, Shaka Smart, and Rodney Terry.

That seems to be the case with many teams played against the Jayhawks. So much hatred displayed by these opponents when after all it is just a game.
Apparently, many see these games as blood sport.
The local tv stations (Wichita) also favor K-State and ignore or ooze disdain for KU. We cannot fully understand why but I suspect it is because K-State has a more comprehensive tele media program than KU, and most of the local reporters and talking heads are K-State grads.

That was one hard won and serious slug-fest with points hard earned on both sides, and didn't Evans come up big at the end. I would not be at all surprised if these 2 big dogs don't go at it again in 6 weeks. I will be retired by then, and should Duke make it that far I will not have to get up and go to work.
In the meantime they still need to take care of that nuisance just south of I-40

Oh. Yeah, that's a pretty good reason. I didn't watch quite as much college ball when he was playing, but do recall him being someone that really appeared to be an awful person.
I would never disagree with your opinions in college hoops... except for now.
Sparty trailed U-M by 16 at the half a few weeks ago, clawed back and took the lead with 7 minutes left. They trailed by one with four minutes left, then lost by 12. You could argue that knowing how to close and doing it are two different things.

Unfortunately, Hokies followed up their win over the Cavaliers with a steady handful of losses. Will be pulling for the Hokies to beat UNC.
Go Zags! Senior Night tonight against the Portland team that surprised and shocked them a couple of weeks ago. That won't happen again.
Then Saturday with the final conference game of the season at St Mary's. Bulldogs currently 27-2, Ranked #9 in the polls. #10 on Kenpom.

I'm an Iowa grad, they treat us even worse, but we just brush them off as being the ugly step children.
As for the topic, my Hawks need to get some other scorers into the mix. Stirtz is the man, but you can't play 1 on 5. Foulgeiras has flashes, as does Banks and Koch, but there's too much standing around waiting for Showtime to work. They'll be one and done in the dance especially if we get Duke in the second round.
I think any team in the top 10 could reach the final four but sorry 75, I'm not as excited about KU going far - they're kind of schizo. That Cinci loss was terrible, though Cinci looked like they could have beaten anyone that day.
My dark horse would be St. John's and if hot, Iowa State has the talent. And of course, Duke is Duke.
I'd lean on Iowa St long before St. John's.
St John's beat UConn recently. They played again tonight, and it was never even remotely close from what I saw - which was UConn being ahead in the first half by 21, and whittled down to 16 at half.
Then UConn poured it on. I didn't watch the second half, but just checked and saw that the final was 72-40. St John's didn't score a field goal for the last 17 minutes of the game. They scored only 14 points in the second half.
I don't see St John's going far in the tournament. They might, because anything can happen, but I think their record is misleading. The Big East isn't particularly strong this year. St John's played 5 ranked teams, and lost four of those games. Sure, UConn is in the Big East and that applies to them as well, but they won most of their non-conference games with ranked opponents.

So new underdogs? Probably St. Louis - watched a couple of their games and they're a solid team but the A-10 isn't exactly the Big 100, so there's that. Then there's the Fightin' Corn. Can't deny Hoiberg has built a solid team there - Sam's a wily, get under your skin kind of player and that Frager kid, now that his ankle seems healed, they could be a contender.

Oh, I'd not write off a team because of one loss, although that was a rather lopsided one. They're playing Villanova today, who have been playing well lately. Should be a good game.
I'm not terribly familiar with St. Louis. I agree about Nebraska. That team just never gives up and is very well coached.
I've thought about who might be a dark horse, but really can't say one way or another. I watch some games here and there, but don't pay attention to the overall scope of things well enough to guess. I'm a big fan of the underdogs and really enjoy watching teams exceed expectations.
