Albums That Blew You Away

My barometer here is "What albums did I have to buy again because the first one got worn out?"

Looking like kind of an eclectic mix in this day and age:

The Who-Quadrophenia
Leo Kottke-Dreams and All that Stuff
Jackson Browne-For Everyman
Neil Young-Rust Never Sleeps

Sky Dive -- Freddie Hubbard

Aja -- Steely Dan

Live Dead -- Grateful Dead

Gold Coast -- John Coltrane

Tubular Bells -- Mike Oldfield

East-West -- Butterfield Blues Band (esp. Mike Bloomfield's work on the title track)

The Leprechaun -- Chick Corea

Live at Leeds -- The Who

Made in Japan -- Deep Purple

Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue -- Andre Previn and LSO

Happy Trails -- Quicksilver Messenger Service

One Size Fits All -- Zappa/Mothers

Fillmore East -- Allman Bros.

Innervisions -- Stevie Wonder

Love Over Gold -- Dire Straits

Pirates -- R. L. Jones

Don Juan's Reckless Daughter -- Joni Mitchell

Umma Gumma -- Pink Floyd

Flex-able -- Steve Vai

Blow by Blow -- Jeff Beck

Abbey Road -- The Beatles

Monster -- Steppenwolf

Completely Well -- B. B. King

In Search of the Lost Chord -- Moody Blues

... and so on.

That is such an amazing list.

Great taste in music.

Thumbs up!

Live at Leeds. On shortwave. Living in an isolated insular northern Great Lakes port. Fading in and out. What the HELL is THAT?!?, wondered I as the entire first side played without interruption. Luckily the ether blew my way when the announcer identified the record. On our next trip to "the city" for shopping I bought a copy. One of my buds who was in a garage band and later gigged his way through college (resorts, etc) told me 20 years later when I went back for a visit that Leeds opened everything up for him and that was my legacy. Turning him on to Live at Leeds. I never knew. It's funny the effect you have - I guess it was a good influence.

When I was in High School my GF's older siblings left their 8 track tapes behind. I became a Who fan the first time I heard "Who's Next". It's still one one of my desert island albums.
