Man, the list is long. That is, the portion of the list I can remember.
-Gave away my entire record collection when this new-fangled concept of a compact disc came along. I now spend about 1 afternoon/week scrounging in thrift stores looking for those same records.
-When I was in high school, we lived on a golf course. I was discovering the joy of beer along with some of my golfing buddies, and we decided it would be a good idea to go onto the course at night and get golf balls out of one of the lakes. The one we chose had a long plank walkway that went out about 25 feet into the water to a pump. We decided to walk the plank and jump in. I dove instead, and the water was about 18" deep. I plugged head first in the mud. How I didn't break my neck or damage some vertebrae, I'll never know.
-As part of the "initiation" into the "fraternity" (the inner circle of our high school football team), me and a buddy had to strip, run naked into a pizza parlor that another football player's dad owned in a shopping center, run all the way to the back emergency door and set off the alarm, then run back out to a waiting car. All went as planned until on our way back through, the owner (who had been made aware of the stunt ahead of time), locked the front door. After a couple of minutes of heckling, we were allowed to leave, and our awaiting car decided to add insult to injury and ran us around the parking lot (still naked of course). Ah, the dumb things we were willing to do to make people think we were cool.
-In High School, I got an Audi LS100. Great looking car, with sunroof, power everything. Only problem - it couldn't pass a mechanic's shop without turning sharply into the parking lot. A couple of years (and $$) later, I saw it show up on a list of the 10 worst cars ever built. But I digress. Anyway, we decided one night to see if it would really go the 140 mph it registered. My best friend and I got it up to 120, which was dumb enough, and drove that speed for 20 miles or so (between Johnson City & Kingsport - SandyG will recognize those two cities). After that, we barely made it home. The already horrible Audi electrical system was burned out - coil, wires, relays etc. from the stress. That little jaunt cost me about $500.
So I got smart, got rid of that piece of junk, then in order bought the following series of cars which turned out to be worse than the Audi (if that was possible): Volkswagen Rabbit, MGB convertible, Triumph Spitfire convertible, Triumph TR6 convertible. Man, I wasted some money on repair bills in that 4 year stretch. But I'd really like to have that TR6 back now.
I could go on, but I'll stop. But there's plenty more.
