Favorite Bourbon

I've had both the Buffalo Trace White Dog and the HH Trybox New Make. Both are very good, very tasty. Yes, there is a bit of a jolt, but both are surprisingly smooth and offer a terrific aftertaste (somewhat nutty and sweet).
I encourage everyone to try these; you won't be disappointed.

I just returned from the liquor store. I think White Dog is now a brand, or product name because I saw some (I think!). I was looking for the Trybox series but didn't see it. I did see about 6 other clear whiskey choices.

I came home with Buffalo Trace Single Barrel Select. Maybe all Buffalo Trace is Single Barrel, I don't know.

This is good stuff! Recommended here so many times I had to try it. $18.00+ tax for 750ml on sale. It isn't sweet, but woody and a little vanilla. I'm going to keep this on my short list.

Thanks to all who recommended it.

Luck day for me!!!

Good Karma today, when driving to give the wife something she forgot an explorer passed me with Old Rip Van Winkle on the door. Followed it till he stopped, called the wife and told her I would be late.

J. Peston Van Winkle was behind the wheel, Told me Louisville should be getting there allotment today.:banana:

Had to go to two places but was able to get a couple of bottles.:thmbsp::thmbsp:

Oerets, I'm jealous! Must be nice, living at bourbon ground zero! ( I lived in Hardin Co. a good while ago. I need to get back.)

Nice area in that part of the state. Really has grown up in the past few years.

Drinking some of the Lot B right now. I didn't think so but the wife thought it was sweeter then the 107*. I attribute the difference to percentages 107* V 90*. Mellower then the 10/107*

I am very fortunate to have Kentucky in my territory, and in fact one of my biggest customers is in Lawrenceburg (just south of Frankfort), which is in the heart of Bourbon country.
Every Bourbon lover should visit the Woodford distillery at least once. And as many other distilleries as you can manage!

Evan Williams...because it is the cheapest I can find here. I am still experimenting with Bourbon. I must say,I am in love with this whole Bourbon thing.

Now that is in my price range, cheap SOB that I am. In the same range Early Times Kentucky Whiskey, not really quite Bourbon, and Military Special are very tasty considering the price.

Of course better costs more, sometimes you can pay more and not enjoy the taste. But that is kind of one of the reasons for the thread. You can get advice here without spending any cash.

One of the bottles was the 10/107* RIP, the other being the Lot B. The wife said she would go by and get me another bottle due to the store only allowing one of each per day per person. But I figured I'd done OK.
The picture shows the bottles along with the card from J. Preston.

Just found today at the local, Frontier Liquors, Joshua Brook 8 year old, 80 proof. So I bought a small bottle. A quick Google and it seems to have been other places for at least a year.

Straight it is pretty smooth, a slight kick at the end. It isn't as refined as the higher priced Bourbons. I'll try it mixed, or watered down next.

gogofast,

That looks like high dollar stuff and it is pretty much gone.

I can't quite read it. I have "Jefferson's Presendi... (can't read it) Select/Years 18 Old?"

Can you help?

And how did it taste, sweet, woody, smooth, a kick?

it's jefferson's presidential select 18 yo wheated bourbon. made at the stitzel-weller distillery. someone recommended this while i was looking for van winkle. honestly, i haven't tasted that many other fine bourbon to make a good comparison, but i'd say woody, very fruity, nutty, and definitely creamy vanilla at the end. it's got a little bit of kick with nice texture as well.

yes, i've almost finished it all by myself...:para: taking it straight, but still have a few more bottles to share with my friends and....maybe inlaws who live close by.

Yesterday we had our 15 year old cat put down. She lived in my listening room at night and my work room during the day. Listening today is hard without her behind my head.

With no children she was my cat. I really miss her.

Grainger, I'm really sorry to hear the bad news. My condolences. My 11 year old spends the days above my head on the back of my chair. I know you've lost more than a pet, but a good friend.
