Favorite Bourbon

Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel

OMG, today I brought out a little of my Weller 12. I've had it for almost 2 years, there is a tiny bit left. I was listening to The Beatles Anthology 3, disk 1.

For the first 10 minutes I just sniffed it. It took over an hour to finish the 1.5 ounces after I started drinking it. I may never finish it I'll just sniff it.

Sadly I don't have a first born to trade for another 1.75l of this excellent Bourbon.

Have not had something this hazmat in awhile, first sip ****ed me up, a little.

Have not touch this bottle for a very long time, way over a year. Very tasty!

Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr. Barrel Proof BIB (3rd Release 2014) (129 Proof)

Again, at least a year since last I had some of this. For the last 3 nights, I've tried the highest proof bourbons I have. Still, this one is the smoothest of the bunch, easily, and the highest proof. More oak, definitely less cinnamon, less burn/hot finish. Also, this is one of the best if not the best bourbon I've had to date, very glad I still have another bottle in the bunker.

Hi Wasatch. I wish some of the (listed Bourbons here at AK) were available here in Maine (and or NH). I've heard good reviews about the COL.
That being said, Wasatch you have GOOD taste in Bourbon! The (above listed) 12 YEAR OLD ELIJAH CRAIG is OUTSTANDING! I've been hoping it would go on sale
here in Maine but, no such luck since I had purchased my first bottle over a year ago. Elijah Craig 12 SKYROCKETED to my top FIVE list Bourbons after (LOVE at) first taste!
My first bottle of EC12 did NOT last long. I also have one "hidden away" bottle of W.L. WELLER 12 remaining in my Bunker. Darn it, I SHOULD of bought all the bottles of
W.L.WELLER 12 I could find as they WHERE on sale here in Maine for LESS than twenty dollars a bottle! W.L.WELLER 12 not seen in these parts for well over a year. Uggggh.

You realize this is the Barrel Proof version.:) They did a label change a year or two ago (94 proof), I believe the label sez Small Batch not 12 anymore, some say the recipe has changed. I have not tried the new one yet, still have some bottles of the old label in the bunker. WLW 12 is very nice, especially for the price, a poor mans Pappy. Just saw some WLW 12 a couple of weeks ago, also was not on shelf's for a very long time, until then.

If you like Elijah (which is a favorite of mine) give Buffalo Trace a try. Also try Evan Williams single barrel. Both good pours. Regards.

Been at least a year or so since I last tasted this rye, really enjoying it, very smooth for the proof. Definitely one of the best I've tried, but it is not cheap. Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr. Straight Rye BIB (2015) (100 Proof)

Hi Swamp,

While I LOVED the EC, I must admit, Buffalo Trace (for me) was sort of a let down. I'm not sure why. Perhaps I've visit it again some day.
I've heard GOOD things about JEFFERSON! Wasatch......the EC I had was.....(if memory serves) 112.5 proof ? I'll have to check the empty bottle for label.
All I recall is how EXCELLENT that EC! Oooh, last night, I cracked open a bottle I haven't had for some time.....POWER'S IRISH WHISKEY. Like everything else,
it's gone UP in price but found it on sale here in Maine. A very good Irish Whiskey for the price. That being said, if you want a real treat in Irish Whiskey........POWERS JOHN'S LANE RELEASE!
