I should have posted this before. A local shop had a sale on Jefferson's Very Small Batch. I bought a bottle. It was well flavored but not to my taste. Live and learn.
The store I buy all my stuff at gets their own barrel bottled each year. Last year they did the Blanton's Single Barrel but I didn't care for it. This year they are doing one of the styles of Jefferson's, but have not selected it yet. Both made by the same MFG tho.
I've never seen OGD 114 in my neck of the woods and have never tasted it, but it gets a LOT of love from the bourbon internet community. So much so that I worry it will suffer the same fate as Weller bourbon, although with no ties to the Van Winkle line maybe it will be spared.

By coincidence, I was in Deadwood, SD last Wednesday night at Saloon No. 10 (where Wild Bill Hickok got shot), and I had a glass of OGD 114. I wasn't familiar with it. Much better than base OGD, and a healthy step up in taste on the BiB as well.
I just checked the PA State Liquor search page. It looks like we can get the OGD 114 for $25 but it's a special order w/ a minimum order of 12. Looks like I need to find 5 or so other local folks willing to go in with me.
I used to drink a whiskey and Coke once in a great while (I mean decades ago), but never bought bourbon really. When I started buying it, I only drank it neat. Maybe once a year I get the urge to make a Manhattan or Old Fashioned, but use lesser spirits that won't be missed so much.
Well it looks like Old Grand-Dad 114's days are numbered. Check out the end of the third paragraph. And for those that don't know his name Chuck Cowdery is a very respected name in the bourbon community.

Now that there is a nip in the air I went out & laid in some supplies. the Four Roses Yellow label @ $20 & the Rittenhouse @ $25 are two of the greatest values in Whiskey today.
Been looking for a bottle or two of that ETL to add to the collection, but that bottle has been an elusive bugger for me to track down,it's sorta my "white whale" of booze.
Also the WL Weller stuff has gotten kinda scarce around here lately too.
So I've been going easy on my bottle of SR & holding off on opening the 107 antique till I have a good reason to open it.
Currently have bottles of the Four Roses small batch & single barrel, also have Buffalo Trace and Blanton's single barrel as well.
The WL Weller SR was my regular pour, but the Buffalo Trace will likely take it's place till I can find more Weller.
Nice Swampy, Buffalo Trace has risen to $35 a bottle here in NYC, Elmer T Lee has disappeared since Mr. Lee died. Sort of like Elvis & Michael Jackson, best thing they ever did for their back catalogue.
Ouch. A fifth runs about $22 here in Houston. It's become a favorite, as has Yellow Rose. There's always the old standbys: Woodford, Makers, Basil Hayden's, etc.
