Help on Sansui AU-20000

No sound. Just want to do basic troubleshooting. It turns on fine, the protector light turns on and stays on.

My input in AUX, I also tried tuner. No sound at all.

Any suggestions?

I've got one that I resuscitated several years back. There's a lot going on in there so if you're not ready for wat could be a project think it over.
have you verified the slide switch on the back is set to connect the pre and main amps?

First thing to do is open it up and look for toasted for burnt components.
Then check the fuses.
Next power it up and check the voltages.

One major issue these have is the feedthrough connections on the double sided circuit boards fail and require a small piece of wire to be soldered through to connect both sides again.

There are several threads on AK regarding the AU20000 - time to start reading.

The seller telling me it works and saying I am not making correct connections. Odd I think I have everything properly connected. Will continue to troubleshoot. Thanks

It shouldn't be that hard.
Check:
Slide switch on the back.
Speaker selector.
Tape/Play switch by the Input selector to "Source".
Muting to 0 db.
Power on!

First, make sure in front panel Tape Play switch is at source, muting switch at 0dB and your speaker selector switch correctly selected. In the rear panel make sure Pre-Main in switch is at the connected position.

I have four speakers connected and I have speakers selected to A+B

put the pre-main switch separate position. Connect your phone directly to main in. Make sure the volume of your phone is at zero before switching on the amp. Switch on the amp and gradually increase the volume of phone and check whether you are getting any sound.

I get sound in one of the speaker out of four but it looks like sound is coming from tweeters and not from subwoofer.

Actually getting sound from two right hand side speakers. If I go high on volume it is getting choppy

Do you have the proper cable to directly connect your phone to main-in?

Yes, I connected a cable from laptop to main-in. Put the amplifier to separate. Now I get sound on two right speakers. When I go high on volume I get choppy sound.

The cable above I used to connect in to main-in.

The cable is fine. Here what I will suggest for this test, just use one pair of speakers, put selector switch at speaker A and use your phone or laptop and let us know. With this test the volume switch of the amp will not work. You have to slowly increase the volume of your phone from zero.
