Help on Sansui AU-20000

Also with my iPhone I can connect via Bluetooth. I have Logitech Bluetooth adapter which I use with other amplifier

This is what I have. From my cell phone connect to this adapter via Bluetooth and I connect AUX to amplifier.

you can do that too but I will prefer a direct connection with your phone. Connect just one pair of speakers in speaker A position at the top (all four wires)

Okay. Connected the phone through Bluetooth. Disconnected speaker "B". Switch the speakers to "A", put the amp on separated on the back. Play the music. Only get sound on right hand side speaker. When go up on volume I hear lot of static.

When I pressed 0dB I see galvanometers are working but no sound. I also tried using it as separate with another amplifier, no sound.

If the power meter moving when you are playing music through aux, the amp is definitely working. Check your speaker connection.

Is the last picture with the same connection as in the previous picture? If you still don't get sound through speakers I would suggest to clean the speaker selector switch with deoxit.

When you switch on the amp did you hear the click sound of the speaker relay? It is usually within 5-8 seconds after the power switch on.

Very odd. I left in on for an hour and now it works.

I turn it off and back on again. The protection light turn off and it works. Let me run few more tests. Thanks for all your help.

If the meter works the sound is coming out from your main amp. If you don't get sound in speaker it is most likely due to a connection problem. It can be the speaker jack in the back or the dirty speaker selector switch.

It looks like it is very sensitive. I connected second pair of speakers and protector light stay on and no sound. Play around with speakers cables and then all four speakers start working.

So far two issues.

1) I get static when I use balance button. The balance button produce static when move right left. Not a big deal and I rarely use balance

2) When I turn on the unit the galvanometer move up 1/4 and then back to original position, I hear an unpleasant sound from the speakers and the woofer move up abnormally. It does the same thing when I turn off the unit the only difference is the woofer pushed in when turn off. This is little concerning as I do not want to blow up my speakers. If volume is high it does thing more abnormally. Any suggestions.

First, clean all the switches very well with deoxit. Next, download the service manual check the DC offset, and Idle current following the instruction in SM. I am sure you have a DC offset issue that you can check very easily.

I will try deoxit however I think finding dc offset would be some what challenging for me as I am not too technical.

Do you have a digital multimeter?
