How to get a good cup of coffee at Starbucks.

I think I've used one of them once, to keep coffee warm with a tea-light. It was too much effort. If I'm making a lot of coffee I use my insulated French press with its double-walled caraffe.

...
There is a cheaper kettle that is really popular right now. Google "Bonavita". They make an electric and a stove-top. I just get tired of seeing the same gear at every cafe.

The Bonavita stovetop kettle is a nice ripoff of the Hario kettle for a much better price. The real prize from Bonavita is their new drip coffee maker. SCAA approved (and there's damned few of those) and apparently superior to the Technivorm at a much better price. I'm sorely tempted to get one. My Technivorm's been an expensive disappointment.

I'm right on the edge of wanting to nerd out. I need a Hario kettle or something similar for pour-over because my old kettle just doesn't have the control needed...

I have a Pino ST-8706 kettle, which has digital temperature control. I don't need that for coffee at my altitude because water boils at 203F here but it's really good for dealing with the individual temperature preferences of green, white, black and oolong teas.

I wish it had the bottom spout of the Hario or Bonavita kettles, as this one CAN steam your hand if you're not careful.

Well I just made myself a fancy cup of afternoon coffee - heated a cup of water in the microwave, dumped a scoop off Folgers into a filter, twisted it and held it by hand dunking it in the cup of hot water - like a tea bag. Made a fine cup of go juice if I must say.
If the wife wasn't napping, she would have made a pot - so I gone self-help on this one.

That is SO sad.

How to get a Good cuppa at Starbuck's ? Go to Panera Bread...

No way. I like black iced coffee. Not saying that the burnt-hair flavored Starbucks is great but Panera's coffee always tastes (to me) like two day old Folgers.

In reference to the OP, I'm going to have to try the pour over when I'm out on a date. Tryin' to look unspeakably pretentious. :thmbsp:

...and thanks John for being attired during the photo shoot ;)

Haha...hope I was. What the heck was I wearing? Pajamas? I think that is my all red sweatsuit like the one worn in The Royal Tennenbaums by Chaz, if anybody's seen that movie.

Thanks for the ID on the coffee pot!
