Hurricane Helene

Ok, Govany, good news about my friend !
He`s alive as I just received an e-mail response from him, via his cell phone, from my Friday`s e-mail reach out inquire probe.
His house is mostly intact with some undermining foundation wash out near the front edge toward the creek that runs near the house after it majorly overflowed from my friend`s claim of 33" of Helene`s rainfall.

He indicated that he stayed at a Red Cross evacuation center for 8 days, and no surprise when he also indicated that the Ashville/Burnsville & surrounding area`s devastation reminded him of Hurricane Andrew in 1991 while he was living in South Miami FL. when that the whole area was wasted from the very high wind and storm surge !

Anyway, I`m now at ease, with receiving my friend`s e-mail communication, and the several other long time friends that live further down my state of FL. that Hurricane Milton trashed whom I have been able to get in contact with that are all alive and well, just currently dealing with putting their house`s/property damage back in order.

Thank you for taking the effort for trying your inquires for looking into my friend`s status, whether he was alive or dead on my behalf!
I`m most grateful for that, kind Sir. Now I can sleep more soundly !

Good luck and fortune with any efforts on your personal recoveries situation in that devastated area`s rebuild.

Most kind regards, Billy Ferris
My my that certainly is good news, thank you for letting me know..
Maybe with some time things will start getting back to a more normal state around here, funny thing is it hasn't rained a drop since Helen, so now it's forest fire danger with all the leaves coming down, one extreme to another..

Thanks again my good man

Glad to hear that!

Glad to hear that!
Me obviously more so, but thanks very much for your kind and thoughtful concern, my A/K friend.

Now if TS Rafael won`t linger too long in the Gulf of Mexico sucking up it`s very still Red Bull like warm water energy boost will leave us alone, I`ll be a happy camper, though thankfully neither of the previous 2 hurricane`s effects have been problematic for NE.FL. area.

It's just terrible. I'm feeling under the weather this week with a cold, but when I'm feeling better and my friend has power restored at his home (I need my Cpap) I'm going down there with a Jeep load of supplies (our Global Methodist church will take up a collection) and spend a few days volunteering doing whatever to help the folks of Black Mountain out.

Well, unfortunately that never did happen. :( I didn't end up going there.

My friend and his wife were under a lot of stress from the lack of running water, power outage, et al - so I didn't want to impose on THEM.

I did try to volunteer thru Samaritan's Purse - but..... all the spots for overnight volunteers were filled up or too sporadic to make it worth while.

However, there are NUMEROUS charities like Samaritan's Purse and I did donate to them.

Also, here's a link to a page with various GoFundMe accounts for the numerous Chimney Rock and Lake Lure businesses and village devastated by the 1000 year flooding.

Another fun day at Casa Fat Point. Spent the last few days getting the dried glue off the terrazzo floors with a sawzall and scraper blade. The wood floor we put down after Hurricane Charley in 2004 was pulled up earlier. It was crummy terrazzo back in 1955.

Mercy Sakes Alive !No words can truly convey that horrific experience, John !
I feel for you, Sir. !

I should have made it clear, that is a video is shared from the interwebz.
We are good here. All the damage was miles from us.

Thank you for your concern.
Well then, I`m glad to read that wasn`t your Hurricane Elene`s experience !
That doesn`t lessen my sorrow for the folks providing that video of the incredible flooding that was happening in such a short period of time !
