I am so old I remember........

Huge hunks of chuck roast, the size of a dinner plate and 1-1/2" thick, for 98 cents/lb. Can't find beef like that anymore at any price.

I'm so old that I remember...

Astrud Gilberto and Jobim playing together!! :)

when they came out with jets for airlines.

the invention of color TV. Maybe even just TV. The small round black and white tube ones.

Flash Gordon & Lassie. Rin-tin-tin.

The invention of the ball point pen.

The invention of the transistor radio.

Nat King Cole, Connie Francis, and Hawaiian music.

Beatnics

'Cuban' cigar stores on many of the corners of streets in Chicago.

Elvis

When the local WIBG signed off for maintenance Sunday at midnight. What could they be doing..? cleaning the cart machines, changing turntable needles ? Will it sound better Monday ? I thought so.

A few more memories for me...

Party lines
Truss bridges spanning rivers. Single lane jobs where people had to take turn crossing, and did so in an orderly fashion.
Going out in the country and hearing nothing but nature.
Seeing old hand pump water wells in the city in the old neighborhoods, and they worked!
Fire call boxes on telephone poles.
Burn baskets near your house to dispose of trash.
Using discarded fish as fertilizer for your garden. Made your 'maters grow 'real' good!
Beautiful Music stations on FM.
The old 23" Zenith B/W set that just wouldn't die. We were years late getting a color set because of that old beast! :D

Uhh, no. But it usually was on planes you DON'T see too much of today-DC-9s, 737s, 727s...DC-9s always seemed "Rinky-Dink" to me, I MUCH preferred the Boeings... I even got to fly on a 707 once...Cramped, dirty, ready for the boneyard....Must have been in the mid-80s when I flew on that old bird..

80% of the commercial flights around here use 737's.

I'm so old I remember 10 and 12 cent comic books, penny candy that sold for a penny, the milkman delivering milk in glass bottles stored in the metal milk box on the porch, black and white TV, TV going off the air at midnight with the playing of the national anthem, test patterns in the early morning hours, and most of all, getting change back for a complete meal at McDonald's when you handed them a buck! lol

I'm old enough that I was the broadcast engineer putting up those test patterns in the morning.

KMET, was it them that did on Sundays the "seventh day" I think it was called, where they played 7 albums all the way through with no commercials.

I remember when KLOS was in Albuquerque, before some LA company bribed an FCC Commissioner to get the call letters for their station.

Candy cigarettes.

Those wax Coke bottles with sweet liquid inside them.

Lick-em-Aid and Pixie Sticks.

Turns out the wax was somewhat carcinogenic. God knows what the nasty stuff inside did to us.
