So, preserved like a Smithsonian artifact. Similar discussion goes on in the vintage TV set community, but practically everyone comes down on the side of having one working and used at least occasionally, not just looking new but never turned on.

2003 Toyota Solara SLE in the rust belt driven year round. 1MZ-FE is the best V-6 engine I've wrenched on...IMO. Sons car.

A Red Barchetta spitting a little loose gravel is a way better story in my book too. My lightly customized ‘65 Elco’s body, paint and custom interior took 11 months. He was going for Candy Black. It was primed, dried a week and blocked 4x on the side and 6x on top. A heavy coat of single stage paint was color sanded after a month and clear coated. 100% trailer queen paint and tweed & leather interior. It was my daily driver for 14 years.
Here it is at work in its usual spot at the office in 2008 - 8 years after it was done. I do my own detailing, even them custom offset Boyd “Concourse” 16” billet wheels. 2-3 times a year I’d get them near blue with Tripoli, muslin and a die grinder. Then just Mother’s Billet polish in between.
I don’t know about you, but the world just plain looks better through a clean windshield especially when blinded by the glare off of your hood spear

The bumpers on the European-model Mercedes were beautiful.
Yes they were, but the tacked on bumpers for U.S. models were ugly AF !

Hey, wait a minute on these extended bumpers. My 85 5-series has US bumpers and that gives me a place to but the multi-pack of beer as I unlock and open the trunk. Don’t have to put things on the ground.
I like my € 85 7-series with the proper bumpers though.
Changing bumpers on quality E28s is a money maker as it increases the selling prices a good bit, it seems.
