Here are two SLs; each with the tidier bumpers. Do we like the euro headlamps (I sure did back then), or the quad US lamps? Some cars looks great with the four round lights. This is one.

Glass could chip, sure, but it did not cloud nor need constant buffing. I miss glass.

I've been eyeing Alfa 1750 GTVs. Not as a total restoration/project but as a driver in generally good nick. They're getting further and further away from my original budget. Here's a nice example:

There's a whole series of videos of him building the car from a rotted out junker into a Ferrari powered driver. He's only focusing on the exhaust now because it doesn't have the Ferrari sound.

Are these your Mercedes?

A guy at work has a 560SL he restored. He tells me he can only drive it once in a while. It eats more gas than his 1980s-era FJ60 Toyota Land Cruiser.

Ha - those are not my Mercedes. But I know all about FJ60 Land Cruisers. Mine was a 4-speed and I miss it, when we started a family it became less than ideal and I got an 80 series. Also poor mileage.

I'll probably never sell the 80.

Other than the '60s Big Three, I doubt any cars/trucks are, or will ever be more bullet-proof than '80s Toyotas. I want this truck back.

Forgive me. Air-cooled VWs deserve to be on any list that include the most bullet-proof motors.

Your Toyota was in great condition! His FJ60 has a big rack on top and a snorkel. And a winch in the front. Blue with tan interior. Well worn out.

Holy cow, over 200 videos actually. I was going to make a remark about weight balance, but the 360's engine is not a whole lot heavier than the 105's...

Such a beauty and fantastic drive.. This was my 'attainable goal' for a 2nd car for sunday drives and the occasional alpine stint 20 years ago, now thanks to increasing rarity (they do rot if not well maintained..) and guys like Classic Alfa Romeo Parts • 105 Alfa Romeo Specialists • Alfaholics it's also out of the attainable category.. I drove a (916) GTV for a while, but that's no comparison in terms of looks.. (and while it was a nice drive, it fell apart sooner rather than later).

Honda V8 2012 Indy engine. Notice the size of the flywheel. I guess they need to be that small to redline at 12K RPMS.

Powerful engines installed in light vehicles do not require heavy flywheels. Heavy flywheels provide inertial mass for low-torque engines installed in heavy vehicles.
