Volvos are a very reliable machine as long as preventive maintenance is performed.While in germany Taxi's were either mercedes,volvos or Audis..

Heh, yes, it looks like a grocery getter, but it also has decent power, compared to most 240 wagons. I used to own a black 242 that had the same engine in it, which is why the car has 342,000 on it currently. Took all the guts from the 242 and moved them over to the wagon.
A 2.3 liter inline-4, equipped with a Garrett T-3 turbocharger and intercooler. Stock, the engine put out 157 hp. I do have a hotter cam in it, and a 2.5" cat back exhaust on it, so it is putting out a little more power than stock. Also have the boost turned up to 10 psi, instead of the stock 8 psi.
The 4-cylinder engines tend to take more abuse than the Diesels and the V6 engines (same engine as what's in the Delorean, btw - not the best engine, due to the cam oiling problems that it had) do. I've had some 240's that haven't received regular maintenance until I got them, and they still were fairly dependable.
My father owns a 1984 non-turbo 245GL wagon with 247,000 miles. Still runs like new... Was pretty abused when we got it, but has become a pretty reliable car for the past year or so that he's driven it.

Thats just broken in.
Mines got 346,780 on the dial and its been broken for a while. Its probably got at least 401,000 miles on it. Good 'til at least 700,000 miles.
Is that a B230f? It doesn't look like one. Got any links for parts?
Never seen a 240 like that before. mines a 244. Wonderful cars, eh?
EDIT; I looked at the ladder picture of the engine and... Damn! Thats exactly what I want to do to my 244! Mine is bone stock but I've had it to 110mph before. Yours must fly like a bat outta hell!!! Gotten any track time on it? I would go to a track but I'm only 16 and they require 21 :tears::tears:

This is my 01 Buick. I inherited it from my mother in law when her husband died.
It's comfortable in the way an isolation chamber with a soft couch might be.
It's invisible (this is good and bad)
It averages 26 mpg, which hurts, but is quite good for a car this size.
I really like it, even if it's not what I would choose if I was buying off a lot.

I haven't driven since I moved to Brooklyn in 1990, but when I did, this was my car.
It was a 1966 Caddy hearse with a hand-made S&S body.
I bought it for $1K, put andother $1K into it and sold it for $32K to a funeral home. I miss it.
Boy, thats a good profit!

Here are some new shots of the Rover- I removed the front spoiler and moved the fog lights to make it a little more approach angle friendly. Click on the pics for the really big pics (>4MB each). If you look closely, you can actually see the power steering fluid leaking- Fascinating!
Peaking out from behind in the second pic is the Old Swedish Wonder, which currently has its engine strewn half-ways across St. Louis County as part of it's 403,013-mile (yes, miles!) maintenance regimen. New head-gasket, timing belt, clean-up of the intake manifold, valve shimming, and planing of the block and head.
