Mvp871

Ivan/Ron

I have already ordered a 871. Currently I'm primarily using my MS300 as my CD transport thru my MDA1000. Other than the fact 871 plays SACD would the 871 be a better CD transport than the MS300?
THANKS
Jimmyc

True, no BluRay but BR players do not play all of the other disk types the 871 plays. I guess it just depends on your disk priorities. There are about 160 BR titles out or listed as coming.
The 871 will make all current DVDs look like film which is of great value on the video side. As far as top tier audio performance most would give the nod to the 871.

Thanks,
Ron-C

To be honest, I would have been very happy if the MCD201 supported HDCD. My previous player did and it makes a huge difference on those discs.

I wonder if it could be added by firmware now... ;)

BTW, I have purchased (2) MVP871's :music:

Ivan,

What do you do with your old McGear when you upgrade? Keep it? Trade it in? Sell it? Give it away (haha)?

With all the stuff you've bought over the years, I'd imagine you'd need another house just for your "old" Mac equipment!

I do have a second home & two A/C storage units. One is for the used gear & one is for the brand new gear.

Getting another Mac Truck delivery today in fact!

I do all of the above! :thmbsp:

Good heavens, you've now bought a McIntosh truck!! Since you said "another", it's not even your first.

Sorry Ivan, couldn't resist.

Cheers,
Cy

Because the 201 has Cirrus Logic and all other mac stuff has Burr Brown. But since the 871 is a new design, it should sound as good as the MCD201.

The MDA1000 doesn't decode as many formats as the MVP871 (like HDCD, SACD, etc.). What was your question about the MDA?
