Damn, I actually knew this one.
That EMI woofer was also used in the very few EMI badged models. The LE2 and coffin-sized LE4 used them in a much bigger cabinet which in my opinion made them sound boomy. The voice coils bottom out fairly easily, so watch out...
Those are nice speakers though - I actually really like the not too overpowering LF.
Me too, pick up a pair at the flea market couple of years ago . Well built cabinets, highly efficient. Never really sold much because people thought the oval woofer looked too much like a car speaker.

Actualy, the 10x6" EMI used in the DMI was not used in any other speaker by EMI or any other manufacturer. The B&W EMI units had fibre glass in the cone. It was used exclusively for B&W speakers. I think there was a patent that prohibited EMI using fibreglass in their own 10x6" 13x8" or any other speaker.
There are other drive units made by EMI that look similar to the DM1 and DM3 elliptical, but the cone construction is different. I have some of those as well.

These are original DM1 design, they are fairly hard dense foam rubber to damp resonances. Not really clear form the photo is the quality of construction. for example the cabinets are made from dense plywood, and lined with thick felt, the crossovers have inductors wound with pretty thick wire, no electrolytic capacitors here.
