Ever noticed that when you need to do something you aren't really that fond of (at least, initially), everything else becomes so interesting?
Like when I have daily exercise time, I have to check the birds outside. At no other time do I care about the birds.
I remember in college when I had to do an all-nighter, the stupidest late-night movie (including all the stupid commercials) became the most fascinating thing ever! Like you had to watch the dumb thing all the way to the end. Even though you've seen it a hundred times. As if this 25-year-old move will have a different ending.
Well, in my opinion and my opinion only, if I had to spend 7 days a week with that woman on the video, it may work out okay. Her face and expressions kinda remind me of Jessica Alba. Which is not a bad comp to have (again, my opinion, only).
It is the same here. The hardest part is to get started. The mind gives this excuse all the time: clear the small stuff before rolling up the sleeve to work on the main thing.
So, I have several things I should get to for 4 slippery weeks already. Maybe I start today with tomorrow (Sunday) backup.
Things got quiet with my friends this morning, so I decided to head home and I got to the bus station in time to take the 12:00 cross town. It follows Main St for a bit, then winds its way to West Main. There was a huge amount of traffic there on. As the bus was pulling in to the Star Market parking lot, I saw a girl with a cap and gown on. Ah! Graduation! Back on West Main and there is a line of cars coming out of Barnstable H.S. It then dawned on me that the kids who had just graduated, were born during my son's senior year in highschool! Holy crap! If I had done the whole family thing when I was younger, I might have a grandchild or two who had graduated in '08.
For sure, I think we old farts had better socialization growing up, than today's kids. Especially those with "helicopter" parents. For better of worse.
Also, many parents live in complete fear of doing the wrong thing and being ostracized by everyone. The "Why did you let your children do that or not do that? You should have known better!" Then, the "bad" deed is posted everywhere, for everyone to see.
Yesterday, I got punked by AI. I should know better.
I saw a video with a title something like, "When Sinatra Met Dylan." I'm a die hard Sinatra fan and occasional Dylan fan. What's not to like here? It was 30-minutes of narration (which i knew right off was text to speech AI). It was about Dylan appearing on a Sinatra TV special in 1969. I watched the whole video. Then, I figured I would look for the video of the appearance on TV. And that's when I find out Dylan was never on a Frank Sinatra TV special. It was a very dramatic and well written story--but fully fictional.
