Random Thoughts or Whatever

Have you asked them for NOVEL thinking? :)

I've seen that expressed in more than one review of David Gilmour's guitar playing (it is the silence between the notes that makes his playing so good).
I listen to KCEA - they play nothing but big band stuff from the 1920s through the 1950s- but the thing that drives me crazy is that all the tracks are butt-spliced without even half a beat between to shift mental gears.

NO expert here.
However, I have to wonder why they call these LLMs, "AI". It's a neat trick, mathematically and statistically predicting "which word should come next.." But the training is on the Western Civ canon of literature and available texts. I can't see how that can ever lead to "consciousness" no matter how many NVIDEA chips are used.

I've had many long interactions regarding what I think are good topics to measure "thinking" and the AIs have done remarkably poorly at thinking, but remarkably good at regurgitating history. In all the cases I pursued, the main response has been justifying canned history. After long convos, I would then suggest a different analysis of the history they were spouting, and suddenly, they would agree with me - completely contradicting their previous half hour position. My conclusion was these things are GREAT at accessing historical content very thoroughly, and they can offer "standard analysis" that has been suggested by others, But in no case do I ever find them offering "NOVEL thinking."
AI is a machine for dreaming - I see no evidence so far that one has been made to wake up or constrain its chain of association to reality.

Online dating can be like buying hamburgers.

What you get in real life.
The first one looks better but I wouldn't want either one. It's been years since I've eaten anything like that. If I eat a hamburger it's beef from a ranch and lettuce and tomato from a farmer. I realize I am fortunate to have that choice but if not still would not eat that fast food offering. I just lost the appetite for it, years ago.
