Hello. Yes the LAB-420 is a very nice Realistic model, and if fully working, and in good cosmetic condition, its worth $90.00 easily. I own 2 LAB-400's and love them both. That LAB-420 is a full automatic with a repeat feature.

I picked up a 420 last year. It's a very nice deck (except for the foot rot).

What cartridge came with yours? If it's a Realistic/Shure R1000 series, it's worth getting a new stylus for.

All around nice!

I think I have an R1000 lying about somewhere. Which shure was it equiv. to? Might be fun to get a stylus for it an fool around with it a bit.

The R1000E, ED and EDT accept the N75/N91 series. But the R1000XT has the newer body and would accept the N95 styli. The old body is smaller and has a flat bottom. The newer body is larger and has an angled underbelly.

Howard, just how in the hell can your keep all this Shure (and other cart) stuff straight!?!?! It's amazing, and very much appreciated. :thmbsp:

No doubt. Thanks for the info. Just got a Lab-400 with the RS cart on it... didn't even consider that the cartridge might be decent. Glad to hear it is.

And yes, Howard is an absolute wizard when it comes to turntables and carts. He only lives a few miles from me, so im going to have to have him come over and align my Shure R1000E for me. :scratch2:

Excellent discovery. I have a Realistic LAB-395. I want to identify the overhang coordinates. Perhaps another user can assist my identification.

It is. You have a very nice turntable there.

Indeed -- that's what I kept reading before I ran across it :) I didn't realize the RS cartridge was worth a darn. Now to educate myself on N75 / N91 styluses... several very promising choices available...
