Has anyone ever restored a REK-O-KUT RONDINE K-33 TT from the 50s?
Have one all orig, all there, good cond. in need of resto.
any tips or advice welcome. It is for a friend.

Yes they are very easy to work on.

discovered today the tonearm vertical pivot has one side broken off so that the pivot screw does not mate with the bearing and the arm just flops around with no verticle support..
so the tonearm is worthless. I am now in need of a replacement arm shaft with intact vertical pivot bearings.
I have a barter town WTB in thru a friend so maybe something will turn up.

On my N33H, I replaced the original REK tonearm. It was missing the headshell anyway.So I went with a new Jelco SA-250 type arm purchased from Esoteric Sounds. I feel it was a worth while upgrade, which allows for using a wider selection of cartridges than with the original arm. Took a little filing to slightly enlarge the original mounting hole on the top plate, so the new arm dropped in place. But overall I think it was a worthwhile investment!

No problem. Keep in mind you'll probably have to use a DJ type cartridge with that low compliant arm once it's functional. I've used a Stanton 500 on my Empire 980 tonearm, tracking at 3.5 grams with decent results. It's great for playing older 50's-60's vinyl.
