Nice! Something in my brain said, "St. Vrain Canyon" when I saw these pics...are they taken near Lyons, CO?

je

No, I was on the road up to Mount Evans, so just outside Idaho Springs. Always love riding up there, but the sight see'ers were pretty thick:yes:

Oh man, you are in it deep now. I have the muffler still broken off on the right side of my CX. Are you going for a restoration on the CX or are you modifying it?

Not restoring. Hoping it will end up similar to something in between the 2 Rive Gauche street trackers:

Of course, with doing as much of it myself as possible, combined with having no farking idea what I'm doing, smart money is against this turning out well...

Hey Tentoze, it's great to see you around!!!!

Man is that a really cool bike. I've only seen one of those in person and I was really intrigued by it... What year is that one?

I really dig old bikes like that, and keep hoping to find a really cool old bike, but everyone one I've found I could justify affording was usually in boxes and looked like yours at the moment.. an I know it's not cheap to put them back together right..

From earlier in the thread. Sorry for the double post, but the old CX500 fans gotta stick together!

I traded a nice pistol for this old Honda last Father's day. I sealed up a couple of water leaks, rebuilt the carburetors, replaced the old CDI ignition system, I forget what else. This year, I have some new Harley mufflers to replace the originals. I may try to get the baffles fixed and hang the originals on the wall until the Harley mufflers give out. I intend to paint, go back through the carbs this year, maybe upgrade the stator to a higher output model, replace the mechanical fan with and electric (the originals are prone to grenading and taking out the radiator, even breaking off the end of the camshaft - they are direct mounted), fairing, new seat or seatfoam.

My biggest goal was to get my wife on the back and see how she liked riding - she loves it! There is definitely a newer, bigger bike in my future now.

1980 Honda CX500 - I believe these are actually the first Japanese V-Twins, affectionately called twisted twins - notice the narrow carburetor intake and the wide exhaust headers. Makes it nice and narrow around the knees.

I put 3k miles on her last year and intend to double that this year.

'80 CX500C. Some people run into smokin' deals on them up further north, down here, not so much. And, no, it isn't cheap. I'm finding that out daily.

Kawasaki ZRX1100

I thought I'd post of few pics of my new to me Z-rex. After years of sportbikes it feels great to ride a standard again.

At 5'5", I could NEVER comfortably fit on a sport bike.
But I also despised cruisers as, IMO, they handle like crap.
So I've been riding an old standard since 1999......'81 Yamaha XJ750 Seca.

If you haven't already, join the ZRXOA. Bunch of crazies there.

I'm loving it Kermit, gobs torque and just plain fun to ride.

I wanted a green one like yours, but couldn't pass this one up for what they were asking for it. This one was green, but the previous owner painted it all black, they did a great job though as the paint looks fantastic.
