I hate to be this guy. But referring to multiple records as "vinyls"? I understand that this is becoming commonplace, but man it's like nails on a chalkboard.

I'm not going to read through all twelve pages of posts, so I'm probably just stating something already covered a few times already... vinyl is an adjective - a modifier - for the noun album. It can't be plural in the technical sense. However, all hobbies, industries, groups, communities, etc. have their slang. I know some people dislike the nickname photog for photographers. Some people hate the worth ink or tat for tattoos. But, if enough people are using it, it's a valid slang term. So, if enough people are using vinyls, it's legit for a casual conversation. However, casual convo isn't formal writing, so it hopefully won't show up in any format text or talk.
