What makes you happy?

Taking the top and doors off my Jeep and finding a county road to drive.
Spending time :naughty: with my girlfriend (when she is in a good mood :rflmao:)
Watching a good movie/show or listening to music
Eating out
Cooking out
swimming
spending time with friends/relatives
taking photos
looking at photos of past adventures/people/animals
the hot tub when I am sore
Bacon

lots more...

Not having to go to work makes me smile. The workdays that went up to 18 hours and more were very telling once I hit 55 and not having to do that anymore make me ecstatic, every day. Time with my wife and family is what it is all about now. Today is visit day for my grandson. He will want to go to Cici's pizza and then Dairy Queen, before we come home and snoop around on YouTube for the evening. I'm smiling already.

Others have mentioned family and friends.
My family and friends, on some days, drive me absitively posolutely up the wall (and across the ceiling). But I'm stuck with 'em. And they're stuck with me. I love 'em anyway. One of my friends is a Yankees fan. He's a good guy, so I overlook that horrible personal choice.;)

Those 1990s vintage ProAc Tablettes I got a few months ago put a smile on my face.
A slow drive to Great Falls on the side roads, with Pat Metheny, Brubeck and Wynton Marsalis playing on the car (stock) stereo.
Dalmore single malt on a cool, rainy night, like we'll have here in a few hours.

Having my health...
Enough money to do whatever I like, and time to do it...
A nice little house in a nice town...
Friends...
Good meal...
A few beers or a scotch...
Music all day long...
A garage to fool around with my BMW Z3, Piaggio BV 350 and elderly Jeep Cherokee XJ...
Taking leisurely drives around the local area on quiet back roads - some nice scenery up here...
Doing some volunteer work...
A warm bath... and other stuff... ;-)

Simple really:

Family
Health (& good health insurance plan(s))
Freedom - being a citizen living in a free country & having the freedom to chose your own destiny & direction.
having a nice & safe place to live
having a fairly comfortable life:
1. having enough cash to cover the necessities
2. & having enough cash to cover life's daily problems - which seem to be never ending.

That's all - normal.

1# Every time I engage any of my house`s 6 room`s A/V systems every day, and they work problem free, which they have for decades, though I can repair most anything electronic, with 2 benches setup in my garage converted workshop, I`d rather like them working correctly instead of having to screw with them.

#2 Problem free, all day ripped WAV. playing music that I chose, through those systems, so no matter where I might be in my house during the day, very clean & tonally balanced music tickle`s my ears..

#3 Enjoying a good BR/DVD(with, or without, good friends) movie at night when I switch from all day music to my movie, or sitcom series entertainment for the evening, as I refuse to watch any commercial television since 2010 when my 12` big dish digital programing went black.

#4 Reading a interesting & engaging paper book(remember those !)

#5 And being a totally free agent(and no money concerns), which allows me to come & go as I please, when I please, and how I please, and if I please, and in that doing so, has no negative effect on anyone else.

And finally #6 when the NE FL.`s weather is cool/cold & low humidity, taking my, retirement gift to myself, 2003 BMW Z8 Alpina roadster for a rural road/highway 100 + mile spin with her top down, enjoying the machine`s effortless handling & 4.8 liter V 8 power.
Helps me to get out of the house, and to stretch our legs several times a year, NE. FL. weather cooperating, of course.

There of course other things, like helping people, making friends laugh, or hearing, or watching others having a good time.

1. having NO COMMUTE (it's 1.5 hour each way in DC traffic)
2. Being caught up on house chores so I can relax.
3. Watching old TV shows with lots of character actors
4. enjoying friends company
5. Watching the local predator birds
6. watching the many kinds of insects in my yard.
7. Good southern pulled pork BBQ sandwich.

Happy today:

Did curbside pickup at the supermarket as usual; a new bagboy brought out my groceries and exclaimed "5.0!" when he saw the Mustang.
Then as he finished loading I looked in the rearview mirror and saw him wipe his fingerprints off the trunk with the hem of his teeshirt! Made me smile!
Thumbs up from both of us to the other, and away I went. :bigok:

A project done and done well. Humans being nice to other humans. Kids playing in the street and anywhere else outside. Getting what I thought I paid for. An anticipated nasty project that turned out to be easy. A genuine hug given and received. I could go on - for me it's the seemingly little things in life that are special. It's not the big expensive stuff. It's the things that come from the heart that make me melt.
