So, we had some storms last night and I took my best lightning shot ever around the end of it.

As a bonus, also uploading some more recent lightning pics that I really like as well.

Hello all!
I love my Scott Amp, it sounds so good and was working perfectly for a year. A few months ago the fuse blew. It was a quick blo fuse so I tried another as I thought maybe it was a bad fuse, but same results. I let it chill for awhile. Now since I have time I thought I’d look into it...
I have an MA5100 that is very dear to me. 20 years ago I stumbled on a yard sale. They were using it to play music...... for the yard sale. I asked if they were selling it. They said yes. I asked how much. They said $15. And here we are. I adore it.
After two recent back-to-back negative repair...
I have an au-717 that is not working. Initial troubleshooting:
1) all fuses test good
2) no bias voltage on either channel (no change with adjustment either)
3) test on each channel for voltage on 12 to 3 shows erratic voltages... 380ish volts, then 70ish volts, then 0... it doesn’t stabilize...
Hi all,
Issue is as the title suggests. One of these works great, but the other doesn't even power. I've checked the obvious, making sure fuses are good and testing whether power is hitting all the boards and it seems ok. Audio passes to the tweet (which appears to bypass the amp) but nothing...
Hi,
First I want to say, I'm not quite sure where to post this, it seems to me that the DIY section is where it should go, but I'm not sure, so forgive me if I am wrong...
OK, I have a very rare turntable that has a 100v transformer. I need it to be rewound for 120v. It would require...
But I'm worried after a little reading online that their bass is lacking unless driven by a lot of power. I was going to try them with my Scott LK-72B or my Fisher X-100-2 but now I'm having doubts and thinking I shouldn't even go give them a listen. Seller said he's using them with a Kenwood...
I just acquired a 2270, and did a full re-cap. There's a 60Hz triangle wave hum I can measure with a scope (which may or may not have been there before) that gets louder with increased volume, independent of source selection. I can also still here it when I disconnect the pre-amp, but it no...
I bought a 2325 on eBay that has been serviced by a technician including a handful of times by my local repair guy who specializes in 70 stereos. Over the last year, the protection relay was replaced by my technician. The 2325 protection relay keeps clicking multiple times just after turning on...
my mom was complaining about power bill but she is probably too cheap to-buy smart outlets .
/she claims my energy star rated mini hifi receivers raising the electric bill.
Could my stuff plugged in in bedroom be burning a lot of power ? I cannot just unplug it I will lose settings.
Any tips ...
So picked up a Kenwood KR-2090 in really nice shape (except for no power) for $20 today in hopes that I can use it for my desk receiver in my office. I was hoping that it was the thermal fuse issue but continuity on the primary is in at 10.5 Ohms. So I don't think I got lucky on that front...
Help! I'm giving this vintage audio addiction another try. I picked up a Fisher 440t at an estate sale and it worked with tons of static and a hard to turn volume power switch. Cleaned and deoxit and resoldered spliced power cord. She looks great, but now no power on. I heard the volume...
If you had to pick up an amp for a pair of inefficient 4ohm sealed speakers (Epi 202 in this case) what are the cheap vs. better options (not best, can't afford that) for a used amplifier to power these? Someone told me my wimpy Yamaha amp is not good enough. Not sure if I believe that, but...
I was searching online for a cable that had 2 USB 2.0 male plugs that would split DATA to one and the POWER to another .I could then add an external power supply my Meridian Explorer2 DAC. I could not find such a thing so I made one and posted here along with my sound quality test results.
I picked up an HK 330B that I LOVE. I'm running my KHL Model sixes thru it and it sounds great. After some different reading on the net here and their, I got worried thinking maybe that I'm underpowering the speakers and causing damage...
Anybody's thoughts on this? Is a Harmon Kardon 330...
Hi, yes this is an idiot question for most of you...but I would really love a straight answer that is better than what Google provides. Can I safely connect a powered amp (vintage) to a powered speaker (new) and get away with it?
I would like to connect my McIntosh MA6200 to a Klipsch powered...
Hi all,
I used to live in Canada and own an SL-MA1 which I haven't used in some time. I live abroad and will be moving to the Netherlands where I was hoping to resurrect my vinyl system and bring my 'table with me. Initially I assumed that it would have a universal power supply and then I...
Hi Everyone,
Got a question for the collective wisdom of the group - been thinking about purchasing a power conditioner. But, I'm having trouble determining how many AMPs I need. I've look at the back of my receiver and I've checked the owner's manual for a couple of my devices but all I find...
Just finished getting this TA-2A back in action for my brother. When it was on, it would work great! But sometimes randomly it would shut off! Then other times it would halfway power on, lights would come on but nobody home. Sometimes I would push the power button, and it would remain...
In my present system I’m driving 150w speakers with a 100wpc power amp. I run my power amp wide open and control volume with my preamp. When I am really pushing the volume, the preamp potentiometer sits at 1 or 2 o’clock and I’m worried about inaudible clipping damaging my speakers. What I...
I found a Technics SA-5150 receiver online for 100$. Would it be an upgrade over any of my current receiver and if yes is it worth it for 100$? The frequency response is better than both my current, but Total harmonic distortion is over my SX-737 and equal to my Toshiba. Damping factor is also...
Vague question, I know. Are there any threads out there indicating how to determine what to replace, what to replace it with, and how to replace it? I'm completely new to circuitry stuff, so approach as if I know nothing, which is pretty accurate. I'm trying to update a Nikko Alpha 1 and Beta 1...
So today i purchased my first vintage stereo system, which consists of a panasonic su-2800 amplifier, panasonic st-2800L tuner, panasonic SL-H304 turntable, two panasonic 635 cassette decks and a pair of wharfdale laser 20 speakers. The problem im having is that one of the cassette decks wont...
Hey all,
Picked up a 1060 that was DOA, but it was cosmetically so nice, I couldn't pass it up. I got it going and have re-capped the tone, power supply and phono boards and it sounds great. Am going to do the main/coupling and the power amp soon. My question, someone changed the power...
Yesterday I had an electrician at the house attempting to resolve an issue in our bathroom. Between 100 m.p.h. talking and inattentiveness (on his part), it didn't dawn on him (or me and my wife) that the electricity was still on via the junction box in the basement . He touched a connection of...
