best looking vintage receivers?

When I wanted a small vintage receiver for the garage, I spent quite a bit of time looking based upon looks and performance, and ended up choosing this Rotel RX-400. It's an inexpensive receiver, but I think it looks very unique and cool with the green dial. Sounds great also...

It's a MCS 3253. Couldn't find any other image better than that. Only eBay has good images, but...

Interesting! I never heard of this brand. I know there were quite a few brands in the past that never landed in Europe. Might be a thread dedicated to it/them... :scratch2:

May sound good but, the MCS does not get my vote. Looks like the result of result of a drunken night with the marketing committee and some venders with excess stock of controls, buttons and switches.

MCS was made by Panasonic and sold exclusively by JC Penney. I think they used different manufacturers at different times, not just Panasonic. Not a prestige brand, but the quality was very good. The second quality receiver I ever owned was a MCS 3233 that I bought new in the late 70's on clearance because it had a scratch. It was the best I could afford on high school funds. It sounded great, although the power supply would creak when it was really cranked up if I recall correctly.

Aesthetically, MCS has the "more is more" design philosophy. I'm not sure any receiver had more "more" than the MCS 3125. It's total overkill and very cool at the same time (in my opinion).
