Dumbest thing you ever did?

Back in '84 I did'nt do something, which was the dumbest thing I ever did. After serving 8 years in the Corps, I applied to the Maryland State Police. Passed the exam, went to the first part of the interview, did'nt go back for the final part of the interview for a stupid reason that would'nt have made any difference as I was told later by a Trooper.

That was a life altering decision. Sometimes it goes like that. Go left, or go right. Who knows for sure.

Cool old thread..

All I can say, is about half my life is full of the dumbest things I've ever done.... Too many girls, cars, liquor, drugs, and jail cells behind me... You can imagine the stories that could come out of those combinations.... I'm trying to get smarter...

A couple summers ago, I was hanging out at Dennydog's and finally decided to head home since it was getting late. As I was driving down the highway [ roughly 60mph or so ], I decided to check to see if I had locked down my T-Tops on my camaro. I pushed my palm up against the drivers side and WHHHHHUMP! The air flow snapped it up like an ejection seat. I thought to myself, "Well there goes a couple hundred bucks!" as I stopped, turned the car around and expected to find my T-Top in a gazillion shiney pieces glistening in my headlights. Well, for the life of me, I couldn't find it on the road! I eventually scoured the ditch only to find it resting intact and unharmed atop the overgrown grass. Talk about DUMB luck!

Holy Crap. Did that person survive? I have a hard time believing he did.

The watermark on that pic is Worth1000.com which has a great collection of *photoshopped* pics. Each one makes a statement. Even without that you can tell looking at this photo that the size of the parachutist and the angle is a little off.

I was thinking that might be a Photoshop picture, but it still brought up some crazy emotions.

Boggy- If you ever come down here DON'T bring them...There's a place called Pigeon Forge, over near Gatlinburg at the Nat'l Park...They have about 3 different locations of Outlet Malls there... So damn big, they even have shops that have Guy Stuff in 'em...Smoky Mtn Knifeworks comes to mind, but the gals like that place too...We have all sorts of places to seperate Damyan..Erm, Tourists from their money...

Sandy-
After the outlet mall debacle, we were heading into Intercourse (PA), and I saw a sign for Country Knives. After buying a Coach bag, passport holder and wallet, my lovely wife couldn't have too much to say about a $120 Norton 4000/8000 water stone nor a $58 razor strop :D

BTW, this damyan....er tourist is gonna be in Hotlanta this weekend to renew his Professional Picture Framer's Association Certification. While I'm there, I'll be hunting for canned boiled peanuts and sugar Cokes. Wish me luck.

Accindently set a desk on fire when I was in High School. I put burning papers on desck before (I did this because I get bored during some clases), but this was the only time that caught fire. Lucky me, I dind't get no punishment.

Only REALLY stupid thing I can think of.....

Let my mother throw away my General Electric tube console....at age 9-10....

In basic electronics class, I wired an IC in reverse. I then was looking down at it while I applied power, and all of a sudden, one IC now embedded in forehead. Kind of embarrassing.

Let's see,

Moved to Brooksville, Fl with my live-in girlfriend in 2002. Ended up driving 100 miles a day to find decent paying work in Tampa while said (EX)girlfriend found new and creative ways to be useless and counteract everything I tried to do to get ahead. That's what thinking with the wrong head will do to you.

There is a lot more, but I will keep it to myself.

I would review my cavalcade of really dumb maneuvers and present you with the top of the heap, but it would depress me terribly.

My sister lived in Brooksville near the intersection of Hays and Hayes.

Thought my brother was doing the right thing by trusting him and agreed to sign for a second mortgage on our home. He needed to pay off his credit card bills and what happened? He charge again! Had to take out $45k of my 401k loan to pay off the second mortgage. He later had to file for bankruptcy.
Fell sorry for a girlfriend and gave her $1200. At least the sex was great until she broke up with me.

Well, since I am only 18 the list is short for me but so far the dumbest thing I have done was trying to drift around a corner, on the road in the snow. My car chose that time to under steer and I came about 6" short of meeting a very large rock in a not so pleasant manner.

Also, when I was young (6 or 7), I enjoyed sticking my finger in live light sockets (the kind the bulb screws into). Did it multiple times, no clue how I survived that.

I did exactly the same thing, but in a parking lot full of cars. i was just as close if not more.

but HAHAHA I WIN because i almost damaged 2 cars instaed of 1, LOL :D

Well The previous summer to that I pulled off drifting all 7 corners on a dirt road that is just barilly wide enough to fit two cars down and is lined with trees on ether side. And before that road was redone in dirt it was paved with potholes. Some of them 3ft wide and 6" deep, tight turns and short straits, and 50mph in a station wagon. I never saw anyone else do more than 20 on that road.

And yes, each of those was preceded by a "Hey, watch this."

Limited to just one, eh?

Well, probably it's not staying in and retiring from the Air Force.

That's not the stupidest "wild" thing I've done, but probably the stupidest overall...so far.

Mine has a great back story, involving Bahraini beer and a cute filipina that is a tale not fit for telling without a frosty brew. Later that night though I found myself drunkenly falling into the persian gulf while the brow watch of USS John F Kennedy tried to fish me out.

Another involves me almost missing movement, sprinting almost three miles in the rain to get to the base from some girls house in yet another port. I barely made it, ten more minutes and I would've been in jail.

Hmm, I am glad I am married now, these seem to have a theme...
