Favorite Bourbon

I have found I like all the wheated Bourbons. Try Old Forester, it is also wheated.

Old Forester is a rye mash bill Bourbon (72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley (the same mash bill as Woodford Reserve), both from Brown-Forman. You may have meant Old Fitzgerald, which is indeed a wheated Bourbon from Heaven Hill distillery.

Interesting, I had an email from Bourboner that listed all the wheated Bourbons. I would swear OF was on the list. But now I can't find it. In particular it is interesting because I don't like Rye, even the Woodrord Reserve Rye I tried. I do like Woodford.

I will have to try Old Fitzgerald.

Got around to trying the I W Harper and it is quite good. Some caramel, spice (clove maybe), vanilla and oak. Good long finish. About the only thing I maybe can compare it to is Elmer T Lee. I will be getting it again.

Thanks for the review on the Harper, I have never tried it. I liked Elmer T. Lee but since he died it has become unobtainable around here. It's like the old joke about rock stars, now that I'm dead I'm finally making a living. Anyway I had some Old Forester over the weekend, the 86 proof variety. $8 for a fistful on the rocks at the local muni golf course. I think I am the only person who orders it there. A nice value bourbon.
