Favorite Bourbon

Jimbofish: Your kept the bourbon from your honeymoon for the last 37 years.

That's just down right cool. Congrats for hanging on to it all these years- she must be worth it too! You kept them both for 37 years...

I had a moment of bourbon insanity Monday night. I stopped on a whim at the local liq store. They had just put a case (6) of Eagle Rare on the shelf. I said box it back up. 10% discount to boot. All the other stores around here have it on allocation or call their freinds when it comes in. A very tiny part of me felt like a gutten for buying it all but I was able to get it over it about the time I poured a glass when I got home. My son says Elmer T Lee is much much better and I tell hime to call me when he finds it on the shelf.
You wont be disappointed!!

Brought this bottle 37yrs ago at one of the liquor outlets near the Kentucky border, on our way to Florida for our honeymoon. Used to break it out to share a shot with my dad at Xmas. Now I have a sip on our anniversary. It won't last too many more years though.
Came in a gold-veined bottle and a spiffy red velvet bagl

Very cool!

Considering though, it is flavored. Have you tried regular Knob Creek 100, or even better the 120 Single Barrel? They too have a sweet-ish character but I can't image that like a maple flavored one (I have not had the maple).

The 120 is pretty good, I think.

Picked up a bottle of Angel's Envy this weekend, $44 plus tax. Seems to be the going rate in these parts. Won't open it yet as there are bottles to be finished first.

Dang, this Woodford Double Oaked is just too good. I need to stay away from it.

It seems I couldn't embed a picture from my phone. Anyone got instructions for me?

Click the "upload a file" button below the reply window. It should give you a choice of camera, file, etc. Click the link where you want to get the picture from, find the picture you want and click on it.
You'll see a loading file progress bar. When it's complete, select thumbnail or full image, then post as usual.
I just tried it using the camera to take a picture and it worked perfectly.

Picked up some Benchmark 8 to give it a try....bottom shelf stuff but hey its from Buffalo Trace. How bad can it be?!

Just gave the Benchmark 8 a try. Nose: Caramel, vanilla, maybe slightly nutty. Taste: Vanilla again, maybe a slight bite of clove, slight cinnamon. Finish: Vanilla lingers, bit of spice, slight oak. You can tell this is a 3 year old bourbon as it is reminiscent of Buffalo but not quite there. For $10 not a bad dram.

I have a bottle of the 100. I tried some last Sunday and I liked it, although the bartender added too many rocks. Haven't popped the cork on my bottle yet.

Haven't tried that one. Supposed to be decent. Got some good reviews then became a little harder to find and more expensive.

It shot up and became expensive after winning best in show at the San Francisco spirits show. I would lump it with Four Roses single barrel. A good initial bite with a long chew. A little water brings out the caramel, oakiness. A new staple if I can continue to find it.
