Favorite Bourbon

http://insiderlouisville.com/business/retail-business/costcos-private-label-bourbon-wait-say-costco/

Giving the Costco brand a shot. It's alright but it ain't Weller. Oh well.

Mint Julep or Old Fashioned anyone?

I didn't care much for the Kirkland or the Trader Joe's bourbons (even mixed).:thumbsdn:

I'll have to give the Weller's a shot again. I used to drink the 107 proof 10-15 years ago. I usually drink Old Forester Signature (100 proof) as my everyday bourbon. Give it a try if you guys have it in your area. It's a good step up from the regular Old Forester.

Sitting by a fire last weekend, I sipped some white label Dickel.

T'was rather nice! Been some time since I drank any, and found it very pleasant.

A little chilly here last night, had to finish off a bottle of Weller 12 & followed that with a short pour of Angel's Envy. I usually wait until the "frost is on the pumpkin" to break out the brown liquor, but it was easier than firing up the heat.

Isn't he a Maker's Mark guy? I was thinking so, read his autobiography, and he talks about a couple of Ky and Tn best stuff.

Sure could be. Haven't watched that doc film in years. Met him not long ago, he's off the daily dose now @ going on a few years. I could sense (and see) why. :smoke:

That's good. A quart of bourbon a day is a young man's game, and not long at that. Unless you're Winston Churchill.

Long live Lemmy! I had heard he was not doing too well.

One last thing, and I'll shut up..

from wiki....

Lemmy is well known for his lifelong large intake of alcohol. In the documentary Live Fast Die Old, it was revealed that he drank a bottle of Jack Daniel's every day and had done so since he was 30 years old.[34] However, as of 2013, Lemmy has stopped drinking Jack Daniel's for health reasons.[35]

Say onward, re: your avatar, which was Lemmy's preferred bourbon?

Jack Daniel's, had a glass of Jack and Coke with him just about nonstop. Of course he also admitted having a taste for meth, so that makes it a lot easier to drink Jack and Coke nonstop. Watch the "Lemmy" documentary, he lays it all out there.

He lays it all out on stage, too.

Okay, we now return this thread to its originally intended topic of discussion.

Well, it is getting cold and there is frost and pumpkins. So maybe roll out the last little Weller 12?

It's a beautiful thing Grainger! All I can say is that I am glad there was one in the bullpen after realizing I was down to the last dram.

Still checking at the local Weller promoting shop. They say sometime this month. I checked yesterday. I'll check back in a week.

It should be soon, TN abuts Kentucky.

Currently available favorites:
  • Four Roses Single Barrel
  • Four Roses Yellow
  • Baker's
  • Buffalo Trace
  • Jim Beam Black

No longer available favorites:
  • Wild Turkey 12yr
  • Eagle Rare 10/101

Lucky to have a few bottles left of these long gone bourbons.

Went looking today at our best local bottleshop, no joy. Picked up a bottle of Antique 107 anyways.
