Maker's Mark -- before they diluted it to increase production.

If you are referring to last year's attempt to lower the proof from 90 to 84, that decision was quickly reversed after significant objections from MM drinkers. Maker's is still 90 proof.

Picked up a dinky bottle of Makers Mark to test it out before I commit to a 5th
Is 90 proof
$16 for a 375 ml
Also another 5th of OGD Bonded--$17

No emails from the Weller shop yet. I have about 3/4" at the bottom of the 0.75l bottle I bought a year ago. I'm just sipping some.

I have to lay claim to a few bottles when it comes in.

Just asked today when getting a 1.75 of the 7yr about the 12yr. They are saying spring now.

I've just tried Elmer T. Lee single barrel. It has quite a reputation, but is the polar opposite of Weller 12. It has a very high rye content in the mashbill (as opposed to wheat). It's quite spicy, but I actually prefer plain ol' Buffalo Trace.

After lots of trial, I've concluded that my favorite mid-priced Bourbons are Buffalo Trace for a rye mashbill and Weller 12 for a wheater. Too bad Weller 12 is an annual deal around here, with high accompanying high interest. If you blink, you miss it.

Hi all,

Finn, I have GOT to buy some good ol' Buffalo Trace as I suspect it is a Bourbon that I will enjoy. I am a fan of the (budget) W.L. Weller Special Reserve which is an outstanding bargain. My current favorites are "Old Grand Dad" (Bonded) "Wild Turkey 101" and "Wild Turkey Rare Breed 112.8 proof". And of course the aforementioned "W.L. Weller Special Reserve". I'd like to try some other BT expressions as well.

I actually prefer regular ol' Buffalo Trace to Eagle Rare 10 (the single barrel, older version of the same mashbill from Buffalo Trace distillery). I find it a bit leaner and more elegant that ER10.

Oooh, thanks for that tip Finn. I was considering ER10 but, I'll start with regular ol' Buffalo Trace especially considering the cost of twenty four dollars (in NH) vs. twenty nine dollars. I save the five bucks for the time being.
