Hi, no with the loudness on it was way worse, I don't need it on this STA-225. I will de-ox the pots, I just received it 2 days ago and haven't opened it up yet. No pots sound noisy at all but I agree, and my plan was to do it. It's been packed away in it's original box since 1980 ish, hopefully I won't have to re-cap it, it does have a lot of power for a 50W x 4 receiver. Thanks much
After doing some research for my own ongoing Genesis Model II restoration --
If anyone is wondering what good matching fonts are for the backplate logo, I came up with "Bookman Old Style" (for Genesis) and "Century Gothic" (for physics corporation, newington, nh, etc.)
I'm currently working up a photoshop file that I'm going to figure out how to turn into either a glue down label, or I may see if I know anyone who has a Cricut decal machine to help me out. I'm hoping to apply this to my new backplate when all is said and done. (And yes... I've literally been working on this in fits and stops for something like 3 years now... man, how time flies).

Here are my Genesis II+ in real wood veneer, bought (in Aug 2019) from a member on here, he did the refoam and I still
have to do the recap, and replace the input terminals:

Nice!!! now try some Genesis IIIs with the Phillips mid... WOW.
There does not seem to be much that Pete deals with that doesn't impress in some way, whether it be refurbish, modify or diy.

I just did this to mine a couple of days ago. I have the golden oak cabinets similar to yours though mine are seriously faded. These are the speakers that get the most play time since they are in my office/hobby room (I'm listening to them as I type). They have outlasted a whole slew of challengers and are still standing. One of my top 3 or 4 favorite speakers I have owned.

I have a fully refurbished set of Infinity RS-IIa that are (finally!) in my main listening area… and they are great to my ears. Those speakers had to be disconnected for a month for repair and that let me swap in the Genesis II+ that had been waiting patiently in storage for years.
it was an unfair comparison and I thought I’d be selling the Genesis someday, but they sounded great _even in original condition_. I had to add short stands to aim the Burhoe tweeters better, but _wow_ did they sound good!

Just picked up a pair of ll+. Had been looking for the EPI version but never saw them near Portland. These came up yesterday, and like the the Da Da song goes, “here today, gone tomorrow”. Cabinets need a little work, and I’ll recap and add new terminals, but they sound really good as they are hooked up to a 2275.
East Coast sound. This is more Lansing territory.
Just finished working mine over. Refinished the cabinets, re-capped them, added modern speaker terminals, and put updated tweeters from Human Speakers on them. Where my EPI 100Ws were a bit weak on the low end, these have plenty of bump to go with the incredible tweeters.
Picked up some of these speakers over the weekend and holy heck do they sound good. Can anyone tell me how to remove the old spring loaded speaker terminals? I have not opened these up but have seen pixs. I don't want to remove the piece of board that is glued to the back of the speakers, just remove the old terminals, drill out hole, if need be, attach new banana plugs. Am I over thinking this? In other words, take PR out, scrap glue off, pop out and replace.

I think it will be easier and more successful to remove the crossover/terminal board, do whatever you want to do to the crossover (and recapping probably ought to be part of it while you have it out - whether you use a new electrolytic, which will preserve the original voicing, or a more audiophile approved film cap, which will probably make for a brighter sound, is up to you.
If you take the woofer and passive out it is very easy to work on in place.
If you have any concern about the XO board having old glue run a new bead around it from the inside.

EPI 100 Restoration
I've always wanted a pair of EPI 100's in real wood veneer and a pair came up locally in nice outside condition. When I pulled the grills one woofer had the cone popped out about .5" or more. The amp had gone DC and that completely tore the spider to VC former glue joint. I covered repair of...

I removed PR's and drivers and holy heck; these are filled with fiberglass that is wrapped in a gauze like material. I'm guessing this is the factory fill, based on how the wires from the drivers go through a pocket in the fill. I mean it's like a stuffed pillow in there. These sound great, but this is the third pair of speakers I have had with PR's, first to have this much fill right behind the PR. But they do sound amazing. Has anyone experimented with less fill behind PR's?
Crossovers are stock, will leave them for now, change them later as I like the sound and want to get used to it.
I glued the magnets, just in case and added dynamat to the spiders.
And talk about glue, my lord. I was able to remove the glue from around the terminals which allowed me to snap off the terminals from the outside. The terminals I had on hand (separates) slid right in.
I should be able to button them both up before the weekend so I can play with where I want them in my room. Perfect timing as the misses is heading out of town for the weekend.
