Right car, right year, wrong color. My high school years’ after hours were misspent in Bellflower as a Chevy dealer lot boy before that Riviera was 8. Mine would be black and air-bagged. A Frenched power antenna in the R/R fender like my ‘65 Elco would be tempting.Buick Riviera GS de 1965

The color is over the top on this one but it's such a fine specimen. In the very early 70's buddy of mine had a Silver '65 GS . . . it was such an awesome car to cruise in.
When I was 8 and mom was dating future dad he drove a blue ’59 Eldo and his buddy drove a black Electra 225, both convertibles. This was my intro to American cars. Mom drove an MGA and grandpa drove a white 356. That Electra made a lasting impression. 16 years later grandpa’s 356 was my black & chrome 356. 20 years later my green ’65 El Camino was black & chrome. I’ve had 2 professional restorations done - both black and chrome. When the elco came back from sand blasting I had to approve an extra 100 hours of bodywork on the rear quarter panels to get it flat enough for him to paint it black. He was “the guy” locally. Like I told him “Black isn’t a color choice it’s a lifestyle.”

UPDATE (March 29, 2021): The Cobra Super Snake sold on Saturday at a final hammer price of $5.5 million. That number is $400,000 more than the car raised in 2015, but equal to what it sold for in 2007.

I posted this hand-built "Go Kart" version of a Ferrari 312P before during construction. Here is a picture of it finished, running, and (sadly to me) listed on BaT. I have no association with the owner/sale (other than sending the builder some photos I took of a real Ferrari 312P several months ago to add to his reference photos). It's crazy the amount of work he put into this:
