The Pioneer "eXclusive" Gear Thread!

Hi

The M4 and M4a's close but the M4a has a lot more ambiance. I beleive the difference in in the two are internal electronic components used.
I use yahoo .jp auctions to purchase things Buyee.JP is the service for allowing bids there.
M5 and m5a amps are similar big difference is the m5a's have balanced inputs like the c7 preamp has outputs for.
The C10/m10 were the last of the series and were not to many produced.
The M10 amp sounds wonderful and in my opinion better than all others I own.
Not had opportunity to listen to any M8's. or a C7 yet. Hope to before my time on this earth expires.
The fans on my units are inaudible.
I have owned both the M22 and M25 but only used a c21 preamp then.

I picked up the M4 power amp. Here are some pics. The owner just gave it to me for around $500. He changed the fans at the rear that the previous owner before him had modified. It makes less noise than before, but still audible. He advised me to get a lower watt fan for the rear as it may run silent. The original fan below the amp makes a lot of noise. There may be an issue with them. As I noticed with the amp the top plate is gone. Under the wooden case the top is wide open. Most likely the previous owner before had removed it to get more air circulation into the amp. There are noticeable static discharge. If I place my hand on the grounding post the static discharge goes away. Gotta figure that out too. All in all, the M4 sounds great!

Hi,
My fans are all alike:
Sanyo Denki Co LTD
Numbers on them are 52.8A
91-8479
60 volt 50/60 hz 5/6 w

Cant say for sure if they are originals but likely as 3 more of my amps have the same ones.

I do ground my units with #6 wire to a good earth ground.
Glad you were able to get it at a better price too.

Thank you for the info! My guess is that the fans under the amp are not original. They are 115v 50/60 hz 9/7 w. I will look for similar model as the Sanyos.
[Question]
#6 wires / good earth ground? I gotta look this up!

Hi,
I ground the cases via the rear screw lug with copper wire to a good ground source..
That will help prevent static discharge.

Greetings,

I have been on AK for little more than a year, and have been actively viewing all the great information on here, a great resource. I have been repairing/restoring Turntables and Audio equipment for some time so I have experience with finishes (still a lot to learn on my end). I recently acquired a P3 and have a question for other owners. (I want to make sure I get things right on this P3).

I'm curious what others have used to bring back the gloss to the wood finish? I have used Howards Restore and Lemon Wax on my Yamaha GT2000 Plinths, but I wanted to know what others have done.

The plinth is in fantastic shape, and the finish looks great, just dull. If I lightly wet the surface, the finish really "pops", so wondering what to make that look permanent.

Sorry for the long post. Thanks for letting me ask my question.

Kevin

That's quite the first setup. I view the C7 and M7 as being "end game" tier.

Which brings me to this thought... has anyone here heard (or better yet, compared) much of the Exclusive series line up?

I have a C3 & M4 (and actually use my restored M-22 more often than the M4), and was curious how they'd stack up against the C7, M7, and or M6?

I've seen one member state that he had a C7, but ultimately went back to the C3.

Hello Dimitrii, That is some system you have put together, however the photos are rather teasing any chance of more? And if you do not mind me asking, but where did you source the items?
Thanks

Hi. I haven't ever compared, my first amps are m7+c7, too less experience. But I've read a lot before making this choise...and by the way, sold out my Range Rover to make it ;)

Hello, Pal147. May be the photo is not of an enough quality, those on it are just two m7+c7+p3+f3+ax10dv-sacd pleer, acustics are pioneer s-3000.
All these items I found this year on russian secondhand market - avito dot com

Looking for some help from fellow Exclusive owners. I came across this exclusive “tool” and I’m stumped on its use. I know its not used for locking/unlocking the VTA collar on the P3 or P10 (was my original thought). I tried it on mine, doesn’t line up with any of the features.

Curious if anyone has info on this critter.

Thanks

This is for adjusting the height of the P3a (or fully remove the arm)

Nice setup! get yourself a pair of proper eXclusive speakers to match it.. I used to own all of those components and used them first with a pair 0f 3401, than 2402 and later TAD M1. Sold most of those quite some years ago. Nowadays I go with the first series of eXclusive components.

the V7 holds no other technical value nowadays than remote controlling your C7. Of course it's still a very nice item and sure it would be nice to connect a HLD-X9, a HLD-X0 and your DV-AX10 to it, add a BDP-LX91 just to complete the series..

Thanks. I have a P3 and it doesn’t fit the tonearm(P3 has studs and not holes). They must have changed the VTA when they released the P3a to holes.

appreciate the feedback.
