Which Cerwin Vega's are the most collectible?

Yes, the CV frames were really easy to clean, and the voice coil seemed quite simple to center during reassembly. The Infinitys had a second gasket or spacer between the frame and the foam. I need to find or make suitable replacements before getting the reward of hearing them. The kits have the foam, but not the spacers. I was overzealous in my ignorance while cleaning them.

I picked up a pair of M-80 CV's today. I heard them on the guy's tube gear and they sounded great. I will take some pics and post them in awhile. I think my Onkyo M-504 will make them sing nicely.

I need speakers in the $500 range that sounds very good on everything. Don’t have to excel on any one type of music but I want them to sound very good on everything. Don’t have the budget or even the space for multiple setups.

Listen to many types of music from vocalists like Sinatra and Patsy Cline to newer electronic music like San Holo and dream pop like Lana Del Rey. From Johnny Cash to some classic rap like Beastie Boys and Rakim. From CCR to Norah Jones. You get the picture.

Maybe it is an impossible ask for the $500 range IDK.

I couldn't say because I do not listen to EM. All I can say is they rocked the house with rock and pop music. But I got an offer for twice what I paid and let them go.

I have a set of AT-12's and I love them! Great sound and very efficient! I plan on picking up some more from the AT series, maybe some 10's and definitely some 15's! Great speakers!

I have a pair of HED (High Energy Design) Cerwin Vega UT12R towers that are extremely rare. The woofers did not sport the "red" surrounds, and the cones are a thick non-pressed paper BLUE color in the aluminum frame. The woofers are the 122T2 model. I have yet to find a 122T2 woofer to replace a missing one (was gone when I got these) though I missed out on a pair several years ago needing rebuilt. So instead I rebuilt a pair of 122W2 using a pair of blue CV cones I found, but they aren't quite as thick as the original T2 cones. However they do sound just as good as the 122T2. The UT12R has a Rear firing midrange, rear 6" Bass port, Front firing Mid, tweeter, and woofer. The crossover has pots for mid and highs. These are a "reflective" speaker and need spaced out from the wall (or corner) about 18 inches or so for best reflective "ambience". Bose wasn't the "first" to use reflective types of speakers.
An old Magnavox console I just scrapped out (kept the good stuff) utilized sealed (styrofoam) speaker enclosures with front firing woofer, and side firing horn in each channel. It was probably among the "top best sounding" of the era.

Yes, the aluminum frames are the same as the 122W2 as well as the same magnet strength with 2" voice coil.

My first speakers back in college in 1975 was a pair of CV R12's which are 12" 2 way's. Had them with a Yamaha CR820 (50WPC) and they were a great match! I have since moved on to more "accurate" gear and currently have Thiel CS3.6's and Acoustic Research Classic 30's that are both fantastic.

I am helping a friend put a system together and recently bought and reformed a pair of pristine CV AT12's. I set them up yesterday and listened for a bit It and it brought back memories of my college days and how much fun these speakers are to listen to. They don't go as quite as deep and the are not anywhere near as accurate as the Thiel's or the AR 30's, but who cares if you're rocking out to some Boston or Foreigner. The AT12's had better imaging than I was expecting, and non of the harshness assumed would be there. These things effortlessly get your feet tapping and are just plain a blast to listen to. And they look great too! Long Live CV!!!

The older models with powerful 12 and 15 inch floor facing woofers mentioned above were the 12t and 12tr and the 15t. They have 6" and 8" midrange drivers, respectively, and flared horn tweeters. They also have rear facing horn tweeters which gave them some added ambience. I've worked on the 12 tr and own some 15t's and they have a smoother sound and very deep bass. I've easily rattled windows with 20 hz test tones at even low power. Many years ago Cerwin Vega also produced a giant called something like metron suft-fet with planar tweeter arrays and a 15 inch subwoofer. Never got to hear them.

15T's were very nice...
Vega used 2.5 inch dhorm, 1 inch phenolic diaphragm UHF-91 or variations which could replaced easily by the removable of 3-4 screws on the back of the magnet assembly.
These were used in many models like S-1, SH-10, 211-R, 217R, 36-R, 432RA's.
