best looking vintage receivers?

I'll go against the grain and say that my favorite receiver, by looks, is the NAD 7155. It just looks all business to me, not fancy, frilly, or fluffy.

Speaking of lots of switches, I have to give a nod to my Sansui 5500. My 9090 looks more impressive at first glance, but the 5500 appeals to me with it's simple styling. The two sit right next to each other and I'm always glancing at the 5500.

When you select a source other than the tuner, the bright green radio dial lights go dark and all you see is the source indicator light and the bright orange power light. Don't ask me why but I think it's cool. (and it sounds good too).

It's at my tech's for the needed fuse lamps so I cannot show it lit up. .

Man, that's a tough call as there are so many "most beautiful" examples to consider. All examples posted thus far I thought were actually beautiful...no stinkers so far, IMHO.

I guess I've always thought the Pioneer SX-1250 / SX-5590 were lustworthy for their elegant looks. I especially like the black and brushed aluminum contrast of the 55x0 series.

I've always lusted after the Sansui 990db as well.

Purtiest in my collection? Hmmmmm...:scratch2: I love the look of both of these - but the real veneer on the 1250 would put it over the 9K in terms of asthetics - at least for me.

Go ahead and rub it in. For some reason I've never been able to land one. They were rare back in their day and expensive. The few owners who I knew would part with their wives first and those I had no desire to acquire.

I don't want to upset you so I won't tell you what I paid for my 399.

I would have put that next in my list. I have one that's just a shelf unit, no sound comes out of it and I probably wouldn't have a place for it even if it worked...but it does a splendid job of just looking great on my bookshelf. It really is a classy design. I have a Scott tube tuner that is very similar in appearance...those round dials exude style.

I have 4 NAD's and I think they are beautiful!

I also love my Yamaha CR-620 and Sherwood 7050 looks wise....My Carver is less then appealing to the eye.

Sherwood S-7100 from the early 70's and about 15 watts per. Love the simple design.

This guy is currently hooked-up to some Klipsch KG4 speakers in my living room and FM radio sounds fab.

Deja Vu thread, but still nice to see some fresh votes. Since some of my favorites have already been nominated, I'll add a receiver line that has been on my radar, Saba 92XX Series.

Below are 9260's in both Silver and Black. The blue light mod done on the silver version is a tad bright.

I worked on an old Grundig or Telefunken radio once. The IF cans were potted with wax, making it impossible to adjust them. Never again.
