Which Cerwin Vega's are the most collectible?

All required because I happened to catch five minutes after a local guy posted on Facebook marketplace all for free come and take!
He just wanted it out of his house...
It happened so quick ..
If I hadn't reacted as fast as I did and got out on the road immediately there were many other people inquiring ready to come.

that is just a WOW! moment

i have a pair of 211 r's awaiting restoration kinda like the 13 lb woofers myself
Just got my 211R’s refoamed! They sound beautiful! For best results they need to be atleast 8” from the wall for the rear horns to be able to reflect the sound. I’ve also gotten better results with them placed on a 12” stand. I have mine 12” off the ground and 12” from the wall behind them. The grilles weren’t included when I purchased them but I’m using lattice grilles from a pair of Pioneer cs-55’s. There is Velcro on the 211r’s so i attached the lattice grilles with Velcro. They look pretty good and protect the drivers from my 18month old! He unfortunately got his hands on the brand new dustcap the day I got them back from refoaming! I also have a pair of 217r’s and 15t’s.. I really like the 211r’s though they don’t take up as much space as the others and are extremely efficient! You can get great sound out of them with 10 watts! I’m using a 150Watt amp and they sound incredible! I tested them with a 25 watt stereo and was blown away by the quality. Great speakers! Definitely keepers!

I only have one pair of CV's, a pair of 380SE. They are huge back breakers and parts are hard to find. I'd like to think they are collectible. They do not disappoint when volume is needed.

One pair of 380SE speakers is all you need!
Not common, but they pop up on ePay fairly frequently. I have a pair needing resto calling my name, lol. Enjoy! :music:

Edit: I forgot about my S2's.

I have the CV model 2000-15's and I think they are certainly a fine speaker. They are a rare model from 1984, large walnut cabs, 8 driver per speaker. There are pics here on AK of them. They image superbly and are just a great speaker- even better than the great D9's I think!!

Wow 8! Drivers ????
I hope to get some cv someday they good for dynamic theater effects? And music I know there good !!!

I do not envy you when you decide to tackle your resto. I hope they don't need much work. Mine looked really nice on the outside but the inside was falling apart. The glue seams where separating and the mid chambers and internal braces on both where completely separated. Both tweeters where blown and two mids had been chewed by mice. It took me a week to bring them back but I did it. The shear size and weight made it a challenge but they should hold up for another 20yrs.

Way to overcome the obstacles presented to you sir, I hope you enjoy them!

I have brought back many speakers from trash to treasure, I actually enjoy the challenge, and once completed and singing their songs I believe that I did the right thing.

If you enjoy what you're doing, the amount of effort, time, and money is well worth it when you apply the power to them and your senses tell you that it was all worth it! :music:

I just picked up another pair of CV’s to add to my collection.. They’re the VS-80’s also 8” woofers, I’m guessing they probably have the same 8” drivers as these M-80’s the VS-80’s are only 2 way 2 driver speakers but they sound pretty damn good! They’re perfect for rear surround speakers, Im powering them with a 150Watt per channel Marantz MM-9000 amp. I bought them from a buddy of mine for a great price and I’m definitely impressed by them. I have quite a few pairs of 8” bookshelf type speakers and these are the best I have as far as Bass is concerned. And when I say a few pairs, I mean 6 pairs.. The best overall sounding (depending on what I’m using to power them) one are hard to say, I have the following 8” bookshelf’s
Bang & Olufsen Beovox S45’s w/Stands
AR4ax
Boston Acoustics CR9’s
Wharfedale w30d’s
Bose 301 series V’s
CV VS-80’s
Honestly they’re all good speakers, the Boston’s are damn good but not as good bass as the CV’s, the B&O’s are beautiful overall sounding, (quality, clarity) the wharfedales are good but can’t handle a lot of power & the AR’s are similar to the B&O’s with just a nice clean crisp sound & can surprisingly handle a decent amount of power while being very efficient. The Bose 301’s are also great speakers! They are pretty new, probably less than 4 years old. I got them for a deal and have zero regrets over that purchase! But like I said at the beginning of this rant the VS-80’s beat them all for bass. The rest are all great speakers, I would recommend every pair! They all sound good with the right amp. Any would be great for a small 2.1 setup with really any powered sub, even a cheap one. It’s pretty obvious from this post I can’t pass up on a good deal, otherwise I wouldn’t have 6 pairs of 8” bookshelf speakers. That’s not even the tip of the iceberg as far as my entire speaker collection is concerned. To me it’s not only a hobby but they are also investments. Problem is I haven’t sold anything in years...

That's because you have a pair of European Cerwin Vega speakers which are actually better in quality than the Cerwin Vega speakers sold in the US. They have tighter base and stronger highs depending on which EQ you use as all CV's are EQ dependent for the best sound possible. Try a Yamaha EQ-630 and if you need help with the values of each band as in a ten-band EQ just ask....[/QUOTe 15691275522502034184804.jpg 1569127661109-1683621445.jpg 15691277166472144236021.jpg Hhmmm.... funny you should mention this combo.....have you been in my basement????

The m-80's have 12" woofers. :)

I ran a pair of AT-15's in my HT and they performed very nicely.

Do you still have the M80s?I ask as I picked up a pretty clean pair and wondered what your thought are on them.

I do still have them and I like them very much. I used them in my 2 channel rig for awhile and was very happy with the sound . Great bass and I like that they have mid and high freq controls on the front of the speaker. I am currently using them in my HT and they work great there also. Good luck with yours.

Thanks.I was just curious to see if you held on to them.
