Masterlu - Would you please sit up straight. Your navel and lack of exercising is showing. I liked the Plasmatronic speaker that had to be filled with gas every 3 months or so. It actually glowed in the dark. Does anyone still have one or ever have one? They were sold at Lyric Hi Fi in White Plains.

...the Scaena Iso-Arrays would be the ticket; w/o a doubt.
Those are the replacement for my model of Pipedreams, by the same design team. While the Pipedreams dominate a room, the Scaenas are too industrial looking for me. I understand the sound is amazing.

Pipedreams w/depth chargers were the best in sound & imaging I've ever experienced, PERIOD, & have that special memory as an absolute reference.

Alan offers owners of the new Scaenas other paint/finish options and they look nice. His advertised version in red doesn't do it for me. Glad he got many of the original folks back to develop these.

SCAENA.

"It reminds me, in its speed and transient accuracy, of an electrostatic from the midbass to the lower highs, but with the power, three-dimensional imagery, and "presence" I have never quite heard the likes of before."

Can't forget the two depth charges and the room equalizer and independant ss amps (for the depth chargers) that come with these. There are 3 models in the arrays depending on number of mid/tweeter modules. You supply the amp for the mids/tweeters (this was a VTL 400 tube, I believe).

NT,

A little OT, but did you finish your remodel at Tahoe? Is all your gear back up and running?:scratch2::scratch2:

And the spotted dog? tweeter in his butt?

Looks like an artist's interpretation of a cutaway view of a loaded Uzi magazine. :uzi:

Maggies here, 3.6/R that just sing when hooked to MC-501s. And WAF factor is surprisingly high, she was ready to go for 20.1s, but I was more conservative

yeah, what is it with wives and Maggies? I was willing to settle for the 1.6s and she said no, we're getting the 3.6s. Who was I to argue? :D if I had known ahead of time that's how the game would go I would have started with the 3.6s and ended up with the 20.1! Next time! BTW, she calls the 3.6s "the Twins".

I have been listening to my 22 year old Magnepan MGIIIa speakers that were taken out of storage since I sold my B&W speakers. All I can say is wow, these things sound fantastic with Mcintosh; they sound better than the B&W's I just got rid of and they were new. I am listening to Beatles Love DVD audio while I write this. My wife hates the way they dominate the room, she has always thought they were an eye sore as they are 6 feet tall and about 2 1/2 feet wide. All I can say is I am enjoying them . The only problem is the left speaker has a little vibration with base when I turn the volume above 40 on the c220 from the base mylar film losing some of its adhesive. I may send them back to be refurbished and put them in the home theater room, since we watch with the lights out appearance is not an issue.:D I am surprised not too many people here listen to planar speakers, they really do sound great. My next pair of speakers most likely are going to be sonus faber cremona speakers as they have a good combo of aesthetic looks for the wife and musicality for me.

All PMC lineup for me. IB1's for fronts, CB6 for centre and TB2+ for surronds. Though I truly don't need subs for movies (the IB1's really go low), I did just order a pair of Velodyne DD-10's to get to 18 Hz. Honestly, using 2 channel 30% and video 70%, I couldn't be happier with the mate across all my Mac stuff. Natural without any degree of harshness or fatigue.
