Yamaha GT-2000 Turntable Social Group

Very good. Except there were no obvious lines. I didn't know about the 'rule' until Azuma explained it afterwards.

It's not your fault but when you find that you've stepped outside the lines it's pretty jarring. When I was getting my NS-2000's refoamed, I asked them if once they were done, could they pack up and ship them to me in the US (for a fee of course). They had the original boxes and internal packing, just needed an outer layer. The prompt answer was no. They picked up the 2000's with the cabinets and boxes, brought them in whole back to their shop in Akihabara, removed the woofers, sent them off to be refoamed, got them back from the factory and then redelivered them in whole back to where they got them. Nothing more. I've even asked them if they could just pack up a turntable for me, not even ship it. Nope. Depending on who you talk to it sounds as though some guys would be willing do it but in the end there's always a couple of guys who swoop in and shut it down, claiming it violates company policy.

I am about to put a mono cart on my GT. I have 2 to choose from, a used Denon 102 or a new AT Mono3/LP. I was going to go with the Denon but it's a 13g cart and mounted on a generic Denon10g headshell so it's hitting 23g. Should I stick to the new AT at 6.8g - total would be then 16.8g. Is it better to be a bit lighter or a bit heavier? I need to weigh my headshells.

Has anyone considered one the ultra low noise linear power supplies available for DAC's to power their GT? They come in 24V/2A. All that needs to be changed is the plug to match the input of the GT. If noise is a real influencing factor then this surly would be a better option over a switching power supply, and when one looks at the components inside of this unit, there is considerably more going on inside than in the YOP-1 and the Russian clones based on original specs we have offered to us.
There is a popular Chinese online marketplace has them listed as "2020 New 50W linear regulated power supply HIFI Ultra-low Noise Linear Dual output DC5V, DC9V, DC12V, DC18V, DC19V , DC24V for DAC tube Preamplifier MAC PC Power Adapter"

What are your thoughts and opinions?

Aside from the lowish inductance the thing which intrigues me about the Hana ML is that the description of its sound seems to fit the strengths of the GT 2000 series turntables like a glove. Repeatedly the cartridges are praised for Dynamics, bass definition, stereo image and soundstaging, midrange body and presence plus refined relaxed yet detailed treble. Also it is said to "make sense of" difficult recordings and even pieces of music which often don't make sense with lesser cartridges. That's in line with the sound of the 2000s.

Unless there was a gross compliance mismatch it just seems to be a cartridge which screams to be used on a a 2000.

I just can'tget over that the Hana ML has an alumunim cantilever where at that price point, boron seems to be the standard. Their topof the line uses boron and it's over $3K so they must agree with the benefit of boron as lever material. I'm inclined to go less expensive on cart until I upgrade amp/pre.

There's a GT2000 from unisound on the bay. Their packaging doesn't reach hifido heights, but they're reasonable. Ask for more protection for the dust cover.

Unisound has a few on there right now, both 2000 and 2000L. If anyone is in the market and is reading this, do a search of their store first, they list the same pieces several times in different languages for different prices, English almost always the lowest price, also note they have a 2000L right now for a good price but it does not have an auto lifter installed.

There is a GT-2000 OEM plater for $87 USD + 30 shipping on Ebay!
Seller has 100% feedback
Don’t see how it could ship to the USA for $30???
But….

Well we will see how legitimate this auction really is, I bought one of them. If anything I now how a real pair of hooks to lift my platter, and I now have a platter that I can take around to all the local machinists to clone in copper, brass or stainless and not have to worry if they lose it, drop it or damage it in any way. If its a scam PayPal will deal with it accordingly.

it's still there, don't search for a platter - just search "Yamaha GT-2000" and scroll through the offerings.. after the turntables, you'll see it (I'm not interested in buying it either, but wanted to know if it was OEM or replica, one only, or multiple... all the seller said was "item has been sold", yet the ad is still there)

I see it now but have a strong feeling it's just the eye bolts for sale. The platter pictured is likely only for demonstration. That would definitely explain the shipping cost.

btw... I finished dialing in the Hana MH and it is absolutely stunning, aluminum cantilever and all. I have the GT isolated on 4 Herbie's Big Tall/Extra Firm Tenderfeet, on a 2" thick maple "butcher block", supported by 6 Herbie's Thin Fat Dots... I can't imagine spending another dollar, or another minute, trying to improve the performance of this setup... I'm done (famous last words!)
