Tonight I discovered that in Youtube you can have subtitles on and then in your settings translate the subtitles. So I rewatched some of his videos and well, sort of got an idea of what he was saying.

I've got one but have never used it. It's been packed since I moved a couple of years ago. I think it would look great with the copper platter.Perhaps you should change the record clamp to copper as well ?

I got it last April. It left Japan packed like a golden egg but customs had other ideas and repacked it upside down, shattering the dust cover and taking a few chunks out of the plinth. So now it's cocobolo on the outside.
Just picked up a TTM Monitor Mat II and the oil-damped weight for it. Gotta replace the cable with something else at some point and I hope that guy in russia who builds YOP1 clones gets back to me soon.

did anyone experience with an outer ring? Not as a tool to flaten a record, but as something which goes unter the record to add to the inertia moment of the platter. I have not testet it but as the GT2000 platter is oversized there could be enough place on the outer "spare" space of the platter. And if one uses an additional record mat inside, everything should be of the same high again.

You could fill it with lead shot, I have seen a pic of that somewhere before.
Hi Wolfgang, several members, myself included, have heavy platters for their GT-2000's. I have stainless steel (36lbs) and copper (40lbs) platters. I've posted a number of photos in this thread (most recent is post# 2998 on page 150).
Wolfgang, I arranged to have 4 platters made by Artisan Fidelity and I supplied them with a GT-2000 motor and stock platter to create the CNC control files to produce the platters. The fabrication quality of the platters was superb. You would need to contact Artisan Fidelity to see what they would change for a single platter.
I consider the heavy platter to be the single most significant improvement* to the sound quality of the GT-2000, more so than the YOP-1.
* excluding phono cartridge, phono stage and tonearm as those remained unchanged when evaluating the heavy platter vs stock platter.

MyGT-2000 arrived. Well packed but still some very minor damage which I attributed to mishandling by UPS. Dustcover was new and it's damaged in right rear corner but since cabinet is fine, the impact must have been vertical compression from dropping and not a corner impact. Absolutely no mar to the cabinet. Operates well but i have a brand new Nag MP-200 cart on the AT headhshell so I need some time to break it in. Even new it sounds very good but i expect it to mellow and get more clear with use. Only played for 45 mins so far (Crime of the Century, MSFL). Putting on the album I am most fsmiliar with next, DSOTM, 2nd UK press in ex+.
Congratulations, the more you listen to the GT-2000 the more you'll love it!

That right rear corner seems to be the most vulnerable. That's where mine was damaged too (I got mine from Unisound).
Wolfgang, the stock platter should be sufficient, but I had a bad experience with a machinist who failed to fabricate a quality platter using my stock platter as a model.
I related that experience to Christopher Thornton, the owner of Artisan Fidelity, and offered to send both the stock platter and GT-2000 motor so they could measure both, and use the motor, which of course includes the spindle and base, to test fit the platters they were fabricating. Christopher agreed that it would be a good quality control measure. It worked out very nicely.

Unfortunately for me they are based in California. I would have to pay a lot for transport, import tax and value added tax, which all is high in most Eurropean countries. I have to have a think
Copper is quiete heavy so I can imagine besides the greater inertia of mass it will also better damp the vibrations compared to the standard platter which rings like a bell without the fat rubber turntable mat on top.
