Well, after more than a week of use, I have to say, I absolutely love the automatic arm lifter on this table! I am so glad I went for a model that came with one.
I just sent Christopher Thornton (of Artisan Fidelity) an order for 4 GT-2000 YGT-1 platters (3 stainless steel & 1 copper). One of the SS platters and the copper platter will go on my GT-2000 & GT-2000L, and the other 2 SS platters will be added to my audio gear collection.

You will get used to the fact that this group doesn't generate a lot of posts to this(or many other) GT 2000 threads. Most GT 2000 owners are too busy listening to their turntable to be posting lots of posts about the same turntable. We're a quiet bunch.
Indeed and that is why I have been quiet for three weeks - give or take a day or two. This is a terrific group and I'm glad to be part of it now.
I just received the YOP-1 clone power supply from Japan. But I'm not going to use it for awhile since I'm still listening to the stock GT2000 and enjoying it. Actually, I'm following the advice of a member hereNeed a hint?
I will be doing the same as you, and for the same reasonsI'm not in a hurry though. I have to liquidate some more gear to get it.
Ah. Thank you both for putting a broad smile on my heart.![]()

Wow, good on ya mate. Looking forward to reading your listening impressions with the new platters. Sure wish I could get one for my GT2000 .. congrats.
The Artisan Fidelity SS & copper YGT-1 platters yield the same improvements as the eBay sourced SS platter which I described in earlier posts. I've copied those posts below:
I've listened to the GT-2000 with SS platter extensively and switched between the SS platter and the aluminum platter playing the same piece of music. I prefer the SS platter. IMO it makes a bigger difference than the external power supply.
I did another comparison today of the stock GT-2000 platter and aftermarket YGT-1 in stainless steel. Tracks used:
Leonard Cohen ~ You Want It Darker
Leonard Cohen ~ Treaty
Fotheringay ~ Banks Of The Nile
The results were consistent with all 3 tracks. The music was more focused and coherent and bass was deeper and more palpable with the SS platter. The improvement is distinctly greater than that yielded by the YOP-1 compared to the internal power supply.
Ever notice how quickly the brain adapts to a new level, and that becomes the new norm? This is just my observation, but I've experienced it before, whenever I made a paradigm shift upwards. That time, I call it the honeymoon time, is very short. Perhaps a week at most. However, I was in my critical listening room this weekend, and I didn't enjoy vinyl as much, because there was a difference between the Kenwood KD-550 and the Yamaha PX3 compared to my new norm, the GT-2000. I was comparing records to remove duplicates from my collection. I am going to have to take some drastic steps, because I have run out of space and I can't get to some of them because of it!
One reason I went for the GT-2000L, is because I wanted a baseline for my system. One way of doing this was to buy a turntable that had no hype, and looked like it was under the radar. I also really like the way it looks. I was worried that my system might have been limiting the capibilities of my turntables. I now know it wasn't. There couldn't have been this paradigm shift without a capable preamp, along with amp and speakers.
Listening to Quadrant on Pablo Records on the GT-2000 as I type this.
Thank you.
My listening impressions:
Thanks for this, I'll try to track down the SS platter on ebay right now.![]()
Does anyone know Artisan Fidelity's price and availability for the Stainless Steel platter? I don't see anything on their website.
No luck on eBay US.
Is it the manual lifting mechanism you refer to or the optional electrical YAL-1? The manual lifter is small mechanical parts containing some small plastic details that can break according to age but it's not that common. The electrical lifter is also normally very rigid but contains its own electronics and detector mentioned above which can fail sometimes. Normally fails because misaligned plastic/optics inside the detector. All is quite easily detachable for checkup. If its just the damping dropping the tonearm too quickly then it's normal procedure to fill up with more new silicone oil I assume. That damping unit is its own located "outside" the mechanical lifting mechanism but still integrated into the electrical lifting since this lifter pushes the damping unit up to the tonearm. First pic is the optional YSA-1 tonearm with the lifter YAL-1 installed. 2nd pic is the original YA-39 tonearm without the lifter installed. Still the mechanical lifter is present in the base arm to the right in the both pics.

I have a problem with the arm is there anyway to straighten this? I’ve removed the small screw underneath but couldn’t turn it. View attachment 1696692
I don’t believe the pipe is skewed because the curve in it looks level and the small screw underneath is dead on center when sited, you can see the end is twisted. What is that part of the arm called? Shouldn’t it be adjustable? I do have two HS’s on the way that are azimuth adjustable. Look how the slots are not square with the platter!
