Yamaha GT-2000 Turntable Social Group

If you need another dust cover for your GT, hifido just got in several of them on the junk site. This means they will have scratches but overall the condition is nice and you can polish them out if you are feeling motivated (I've done this with great success). There were several a week ago but some guy bought them up all at once. Fortunately they just got more that appear to be a little nicer and honestly it's been quite a while since they've put any up.

The guy who designs tonearms for Swedish Audio Technology (SAT) claims it's one of the most significant upgrades you can make. I'd say find a tube and give it a go.

^ That's beautiful! I got in touch with Christopher and the quote for a single platter was, shall we say, just a little pricey.

I purchased a gunmetal platter in 2019 from a Japanese buying service & gunmetal platters were already quite expense then. It arrived with severe road rash due to being shipped in the original YGT box with no additional protection.

Ugh, that's painful. I bought one through Rinkya about a year ago, they know their stuff, double boxed, high density foam, arrived in perfect shape. I have used them for a lot of my gear and they have come through great every time. Scott's the shipping manager and will package to your specifications, in my book worth every bit of their fees.

I had aluminum sleeves made and took a scotchbrite pad to them. The finish is very close to the platter finish. The plastic sleeves started to discolor so they had to go.

I have done exactly this. Also awaiting its arrival.

I bought one from Japan - and its essentially a 24v dc power supply brick that can be gotten everywhere and for cheap. and they work. the trick is to change the cable to xlr. how to do that trick i don't know.

I’ve had a gt 2000l for about 15 years till about 2 days ago when the tonearm started floating backward uncontrollably. I’ve tried everything. I’m going to have to buy another one. How do you guys get them from hifido. If someone knows how to fix the tonearm I’d appreciate it. Thanx brad

Post a pic or pics of the tonearm showing settings. Do you use a scale to check tracking force?

The cost of one of these as a single unit order is far in excess of a YGT-1.
Care to share? That is surprising, last YGT-1 I saw sold on Reverb for $4,500. Hard to justify a replica exceeding the cost of an original but one offs obviously don't make sense cost wise for Artisan Fidelity. Not a big market unfortunately, they could do better if they marketed them in Japan where likely the biggest market is but still probably not worth their time.

I was quoted $6800 for the Artisan Fidelity replica.

Based on comparing different pics, I think some of the YGT-1's sold as original are in fact a replica.

There use to be a group known in the Japanese audiophile community as "YGT Project" (or simply YGT). It was run as a passion project by retired, old-school industrial machinists, the site functioned as a direct-to-order landing page where users could request custom production runs for the 18kg replica YGT-1 platters, pure brass sub-weights, and specialized bearing-support mods. Unfortunately it retired about a year ago. Their quality and replication were stellar but I am pretty sure they labeled their product to avoid being considered an attempt to deceive anyone that it was an original. They were also expensive. Interestingly they would only sell to the local Japan market and were even leery of the brokers. Before I found and bought a YGT-1 original on Yahoo Japan I was considering one of theirs which someone I knew local was going to buy and ship to me.
